England Premier League
Saturday 2nd December 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium
Match Preview:
Brentford are pushing for a top half place and Luton are trying to push away from the bottom three. Indeed after last weekend and with Everton’s 10 point punishment there seems to be a renewed confidence about Luton who have been odds on for the majority of the season to go down. The home side come into this weekend in 11th place and with 16 points they have the same number as Chelsea but after winning three games in a row recently they have lost back to back games with defeats against Liverpool and Arsenal. However should Brentford be worried about losing to clubs of that quality? One would expect the Bees to bounce back at home to Luton and overall their home form has been decent enough with 9 points earned from 21 and also just two losses so far. Six points have been won from their last nine at home. Granted the Bees did lose their last game here against Arsenal but that only ended in a narrow 1-0 loss.
It’s been a good week for Luton in their survival chances, firstly having Everton down there has boosted their hopes and last weekend they picked up just their second win of the season and their first at home ever in the Premier League after beating Crystal Palace 2-1. That win will give the team a lot of belief and they now have 9 points and are four clear of the bottom three. There’s even a small chance that with victory Luton could climb into 16th place and move past Bournemouth although it would take a good win in this game.
Team News:
Brentford: Nathan Collins and Mikkel Damsgaard are both nearing returns but both have a lack of match fitness and may not be risked until at least next week. Joshua Dasilva remains at 50/50 to return from his hamstring injury. Mathias Jensen and Mads Roerslev will both be assessed. Kevin Schade and Aaron Hickey are out until next month at least. Henry Rico is out for the season with a knee injury and Ivan Toney is unavailable until next month.
Luton: Reece Burke was pencilled in to return for this game from a hamstring injury but there has been no updates on his condition. Issa Kabore and Marvelous Nakamba will both be assessed. Mads Anderson remains out with a hamstring injury with no fixed return date. Daniel Potts, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Cauley Woodrow were all expected to return by now but all remain doubts for this game.
Brentford vs Luton Head to Head:
The last time the two clubs played each other was almost three years ago it was in the Championship and in this fixture Brentford won 1-0.
Brentford have won 5 of the last six meetings.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Brentford vs Luton Prediction:
Brentford fans will have a quiet laugh about the statistic that under 2.5 goals has been the majority score line over the past decade. That is because in 2019 in this fixture Brentford slaughtered their opponents 7-0. The Bees have had much better of the results between the two clubs over the past few games and Thomas Frank’s side have not been an easy team to beat.
Luton will come here with some confidence no doubt but we are backing the Bees to have the final say in what could be an entertaining game. We expect to see over goals here and let’s point out that despite the recent stat of a few goals this is a fixture that has produced plenty too. We think this is a game that will open up and be an enjoyable affair because Luton will come out and go for this after tasting victory last weekend and the smart choice could be to back both teams to score.
Brentford vs Luton Betting Tips:
Brentford to beat Luton at 1.50
Over 2.5 goals at 1.66
Both teams to score at 1.80
Anytime goalscorer: Yoane Wissa at 2.50
