England Premier League
Monday 6th March 2023
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium
Match Preview:
Brentford and Fulham have so far had superb campaigns and at least one of them may qualify for a European competition next season, this game could reveal a little bit more about which club it could be.
Brentford are still unbeaten this year although they have drawn 3 of their last five games. Currently the Bees are in 9th place and even with victory here would remain in that position because of goal difference over Brighton. Brentford’s last two games have ended in the same score line of 1-1 against Crystal Palace and Arsenal. At home Thomas Frank’s team have been very impressive with just one defeat so far and they have won 50% of their games. A recent 3 game winning streak did come to an end with the Palace draw. The Bees will take pride in the fact that on form they are one of the best clubs in the league and would rank in 5th place having earned 9 points from their last 15.
Fulham are in 7th and four points clear of their hosts and they come here unbeaten in their last four games. Last weekend the Cottagers could only draw against Wolves but recently they have recorded victories over Brighton and Nottingham Forest. Not many would believe that Fulham have a chance to go past Liverpool if the Reds have lost on Sunday and we are in March, but that’s the sort of the season it has been like so far. Indeed Fulham would go past Newcastle with a win here. Away form has been very good with 10 points won from their last 15 and overall while they have lost five games they have won the same amount.
Team News:
Brentford: The Bees only have one injury concern and that is Thomas Strakosha who has been sidelined for the past month with an ankle injury and looks certain to miss out once again.
Fulham: Joao Paulinha is suspended as he has picked up his tenth booking of the season. Tom Cairney is out with an ankle injury and not due back for 3-4 weeks. Layvin Kurzawa is out with a knee injury and looks set ti miss between 6-7 weeks.
Brentford vs Fulham Head to Head:
The clubs haven’t played here since meeting in the EFL Cup back in 2020 and Brentford won 3-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Fulham won 3-2.
It’s been almost 7 years since Fulham beat Brentford away from home.
The last 3 meetings in a row has seen over 2.5 goals.
Brentford vs Fulham Prediction:
You feel that this is a game where something has to give and you have to applaud the two teams who at the beginning of the season could well have been among the favourites to go down. Both have done well, played good football and have been consistent.
Brentford has the edge here but there is hardly anything in it but the Bees have a good record over Fulham at home. We also have to respect the form that Thomas Frank’s side has shown over the last five weeks. This is a big game for Brentford because even though they will be fine this season a loss here and perhaps some other points dropped over the coming weeks and they could well lose touch with a European place. At the same time Fulham have a great opportunity to set the cat amongst the pigeons and dive into a possible top six place. However we will be backing The Bees to get the points being at home.
Brentford vs Fulham Betting Tips:
