England Premier League
Saturday 21st October 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Brentford Community Stadium
Match Preview:
Brentford will be looking to bounce back after the international break and while they started the season in confident fashion their form over the past month has been average to poor. They come into this game with no victories in their last five and the pressure is already starting to mount and at home they will be expected to win this game. The Bees have lost 3 of their last four games and their last loss came against Manchester United. Because of internationals and the way the fixtures have fallen Thomas Frank’s side actually haven’t played at home for a month so this will be a welcome return for them although that last game did end in a 3-1 defeat against Everton. For now Brentford are in 15th place with 7 points but a win could push them up at least two places.
Burnley are in 18th place with four points so could join their hosts on the same points with a win here. Vincent Kompany’s side have only managed to win one game so far and that was against Luton although it was away from home. Their last game before the international break ended in a 4-1 loss against Chelsea at home and while the Blues have a superior side it doesn’t look good when you lose to a team in that fashion who have had a poor start themselves. Like Brentford Burnley have lost 3 of their last four games and have only managed seven goals so far with two of those coming against Luton. So far for the Clarets away from home it is all square after three games with one win, one defeat and one draw.

Benson Manuel and Nathan Richmond are also 50/50 to make this one due to both having knocks. Michael Obafemi and Jordan Beyer remain out.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.
Brentford vs Burnley Prediction:
Burnley are going to struggle this season but in the last few weeks there has been a response from the club, even when they lost at Manchester United they showed some quality in that game and the manager will be focusing on defence. Burnley have a good recent record over their hosts of course they did lose this fixture last season. But this looks like a good time to be facing the Bees who have a long injury list and whose form has really gone to the wall lately. Burnley are excellent value for the win.
Wilson Odobert for Burnley is great value to score and he has scored a couple in the last month even though he plays on the wing he isn’t afraid of coming forward and his confidence will be in good shape. This remains a risky choice granted but Brentford haven’t shown us much lately to warrant a home win.
