England Premier League
Saturday 21st October 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium
Match Preview:
It’s 8 games in and Bournemouth are searching for their first win of the season, they have three points but are in 19th place and it doesn’t look like getting better any time soon for the club. Before the international break they were swept aside 3-0 against Everton, a team with a plethora of their own problems this season and that has to be worrying for the Clarets.
Bournemouth come into this game having lost their last three and they have shipped seven goals in their last two games. Their last home game ended in a 4-0 loss against Arsenal and before that they were able to draw 0-0 at home to Chelsea, but overall this has been a shambolic start.
Wolves are in 14th place with 8 points and have had their struggles also but one has to wonder if they are turning the key now? The club have gone their last three games undefeated with draws against Luton and Aston Villa and a huge victory over Manchester City. Wolves have had the benefit of being at home for their last two games and in their last away one they could only draw against Luton. A home win should see Bournemouth escape the relegation zone even by the end of the weekend and an away win could see Wolves move up at least two positions.
Team News:
Bournemouth: Lloyd Kelly and Alex Scott may be in line to return from their injuries and both will be assessed. Tyler Adams, Ryan Fredericks and Emiliano Marcondes remain out.
Wolves: Mario Lemina and Nelson Semedo are both suspended for this game. Rayan Ait-Nouri will be assessed following a recent knock and Hugo Bueno remains a major doubt and is expected to miss out once again due to a knee injury.
Bournemouth vs Wolves Head to Head:
The sides have only played each other 17 times and it’s a close record with seven wins for Bournemouth and six for Wolves.
Last season this fixture finished 0-0.
The last three meetings have all finished in under 1.5 goals.
Bournemouth vs Wolves Prediction:
You have to wonder if the international break on this occasion came at the wrong time for Wolves who had put a small but decent run of unbeaten games together. It does wonders for players in the current run and that was stopped and sometimes we see form teams start to slip up again. It should also be noted that Wolves have a good recent record over Bournemouth and have only lost once in the past six meetings, that though was in their last meeting which took place earlier this year.
Perhaps the key in this game is that we have witnessed just 2 goals in the last 270 minutes of football between the two clubs and with how they stand in the table and both of their respective starts perhaps we will witness a game without too much incident. Certainly it isn’t a stretch to comment that this fixture will not be lighting up European or even Premier League football this weekend. Both clubs have plenty of problems and it is a blow for Wolves to see not one but two key players injured. Our main tip therefore will be to see a lack of goals and the correct score at half time or full time does offer excellent odds. It may be worth picking out a home win too as surely it is coming for the Clarets and they might be facing Wolves at the right time too.
