Bournemouth vs West Ham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 28th September 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth have started the season very well and come into this game in 6th place with 10 points. The club are in solid form and have won back to back games. They beat Everton and followed that up with victory over Southampton, both matches ended with the same scoreline of 3-1.

Eddie Howe’s side will be happy to return home where they last beat Everton. That day the club played a 4-4-2 and in striker Callum Wilson they have a genuine deadly goalscorer, Wilson has netted 4 times already.

The clubs only loss this season at home was to champions Manchester City, which can be accepted and they could well start as the favourites for many to go on and win this match.

West Ham might just be the enigma of this new season. Manuel Pellegrini’s team beat Manchester United last weekend 2-0, and didn’t even play great football in doing so. But the Hammers were then knocked out of the Carabao Cup 3rd round by Oxford United. That they were beaten by the League One side was one thing, the fact that it was 4-0 was quite another, and a real shock to the system. Three of Oxford’s goals were scored in a 29 minute period in the second half.

Commentators will say that Pellegrini made 9 changes to the starting 11 against Man Utd but at the same time there was still a wealth of quality in the side including new signing Pablo Fornals who has been incredibly underwhelming. And in the second half most of the regulars came on including Mark Noble and Sebastian Haller. There is no escaping this, it was a very poor performance.

Team News:

Bournemouth: The club have no new injuries coming into this game but have 4 players out long term who may not return until the Christmas period including Junior Stanilas, Dan Gosling and Charlie Daniels

West Ham: Ryan Fredericks has a minor knock but is expected to be ready for this game. Manuel Lanzini has a foot injury and could be ruled out for 3 weeks. Winston Reid could be assessed after a lack of match fitness

Bournemouth vs West Ham Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 2-0 to Bournemouth.

West Ham have not beaten Bournemouth in the last 6 meetings.

4 of the last 5 meetings has seen both teams to score.

Bournemouth vs West Ham Prediction:

West Ham have started their season in solid if not spectacular fashion and do come into this game in 5th place with 11 points. They have lost just once this season and are unbeaten in their last five games. The sticking point is that even though they are unbeaten away from home two of the three matches have ended in draws and they were not against top drawer teams in Aston Villa and Brighton.

Bournemouth are going to be a solid unit this season at home, and whilst they will predictably struggle on the road we think they will be able to overcome some so called better teams with stronger squads in front of their home fans. West Ham shouldn’t be taken lightly and surely we will see a response after their Oxford defeat, and this is why we feel it's safer to look into the goals markets for this game.
