Venue: Vitality Stadium
Match Preview:
Bournemouth are almost safe and a win at the weekend would be a huge boost for the club in underlining that. The Cherries have found good form just when it has mattered because a month ago they were among the favourites to be relegated but Gary O’ Neil’s side have been able to win 3 of their last four games and have climbed up to 14th place with 33 points. Currently they are six points from the bottom three coming into this weekend and in their last game they stunned Tottenham away from home by beating them 3-2, that has turned out to be a huge three points for them.
Other recent wins have come against Leicester and Fulham and at home they have won 19 of their 33 points. While the club still has a questionable home record given they have the fourth to worst in the league, it is all about recent form right now and they have been able to win two of their last three games here. However the Cherries did lose their last home game and that was against Brighton in a 2-0 loss.
West Ham have not just had survival on their mind as they have been involved in the Europa Conference League and in midweek they thumped Belgian team Gent 4-1 to advance to the semi-finals. Despite his faults David Moyes has got West Ham to two European semi-finals in a row and for a club like the Hammers that is a great achievement. Back to domestic football and the Hammers would go past their hosts with victory here. David Moyes side have 31 points and are four clear of the bottom three and the feeling is that after losing just one game from their past five that the Hammers are going to stay up. However nothing is certain and difficult fixtures do lie ahead.
The Hammers last game ended in a 2-2 draw with league leaders Arsenal and given that they were losing that game 2-0 after ten minutes the response was nothing short of fantastic. The club have also recently beaten Fulham, however there is a clear worry with away form. West Ham have won just two times on the road and earned 9 points from a possible 42 and away form has really been the clubs Achilles heel this season. With just 8 goals scored on the road only Nottingham Forest have a worse record and in recent away form the club has won just 4 points from a possible 15.
Team News:
Bournemouth: Ryan Fredericks is missing with a calf injury, Junior Stanilas was being pencilled in to be back by now but he looks like he will still be missng with a knock, it is the same case for Hamid Traore. Matias Vina will be assessed after recovering from a back injury.
West Ham: Angelo Ogbonna is being tipped to return after missing the last game due to a minor back injury, he will be assessed ahead of the game. Gianluca Scamacca is out with a knee injury with no fixed return date.
Bournemouth vs West Ham Head to Head:
The teams haven’t played this fixture since 2019 when they drew 2-2.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture West Ham won 2-0.
West Ham have not won at Bournemouth in the last 4 attempts.
Bournemouth vs West Ham Prediction:
On paper West Ham have the better team but this will be a tricky fixture for them and perhaps it is correct to say that Bournemouth will start as the favourites. We have to take into account that the Hammers not only had a tough European game in midweek but an emotional one too and it can zap your energy. Moyes side also have a poor overall away record and have not won many games on the road against the Cherries of late who are showing good signs of form.
There have been a fair few draws between the clubs though and West Ham unlike other seasons have been able to keep their injury list to a minimum which has really helped the club this season. This will be a close game but Bournemouth can see the finishing line in front of them and being at home with the crowd we expect them to just edge this one, the Hammers may have to wait to live another day.
