Bournemouth vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 2nd January 2019
Kick off at 7.45pm GMT
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

The truth is Bournemouth had got off to such a good start in the Premier League it may just save them this season from the drop, and they needed to given their recent form which has seen Eddie Howe’s side lose 4 of the last 5 games. The club have fallen to 12th place and come into this game with back to back defeats against Tottenham and Manchester United where they have conceded 9 goals.

The Cherries have had some very hard home games facing the top six and have come in for some heavy defeats but they will feel confident that they can get something from this game. A win could put them back into the top 10, while a loss would raise more questions.

Watford drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle at the weekend and that keeps The Hornets in the top 10, and the club can’t really ask for better than that after 20 games played. They have won 12 points from a possible 27 away from home and while that isn’t a great return their recent form on the road is solid where they have lost just 1 game from their past five.

They have been challenged in their last 2 away matches and came off well with a 2-2 draw at Everton, a match where they were heading for a win and then beating on form West Ham 2-0.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Nathan Ake could return to the team after his muscle injury. The Cherries have another 4 players out but these are long term and apart from Ake, there are no other major injury worries

Watford: Christian Kabasele is being tipped to be ready for this match after his shoulder injury. Sebastian Prodl is 50/50 after recovering from his knee injury.

Bournemouth vs Watford Head to Head:

The last time Watford played here they won 2-0.

There have been 5 draws from the last 7 meetings.

There is a 60% chance to see both teams to score.

Bournemouth vs Watford Prediction:

We are not expecting this game to be entertaining as both teams look to secure at least a point and move on. The home side have the more pressure after some massive heavy losses but they have had to play the best teams in the league. If we see goals we expect it to be in the 2nd half and that will be our main bet. Expect the game to get off to a lethargic start, and if it does then the selections below should both come in.
