Bournemouth vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 26th August 2023
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Saturday’s games kick off when Bournemouth host Tottenham and the Cherries will be looking for their first win of the season. Andoni Iraola’s side have not had it easy so far with fixtures against West Ham and Liverpool. Their previous home game ended in a 1-1 draw with the Hammers which wasn’t seen as terrible given that they had gone a goal down in that match. Against Liverpool at Anfield the worst was feared as last season the Cherries had been thumped 9-0 but they stayed in the game before getting some unlucky calls and eventually Liverpool’s quality telling as they lost 3-1 in the end.

The Liverpool defeat was certainly an improvement on last season but you sense that the Cherries could struggle presently and a win here would really be a huge boost for them. As for Tottenham they recorded a superb 2-0 win over Manchester United at home last weekend but perhaps there will, for now, be some question marks over how they play away. It is of course very early days but they were not able to put Brentford to bed as they drew 2-2 with the Bees in their only away game so far. Traditionally fans have seen their side struggle on the road but have solid form at home and you wonder if Tottenham’s season could pan out like this? The weekend will reveal more of that answer.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Lewis Cook is a day by day case after his hip injury and remains at 50/50 to be ready for this one. Dango Ouatarra is out for 3 weeks with an ankle injury, Emiliano Marcondes is out with a foot injury with no fixed return date it is the same case for Ryan Fredericks with his calf. Alex Scott is still sidelined with a knee injury, Adam Smith is out with a muscle injury and Marcus Tavernier has a knock and remains a doubt for this match.

Tottenham: James Maddison has a knock but is expected to be fine, Bryan Gil, Ryan Sessegnon and Rodrigo Bentancur are all out injured following on from injuries sustained last season.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Last season Tottenham won this fixture 3-2.

3 of the last four meetings have finished with the correct score of 3-2. Two times in Tottenham’s favour and once in Bournemouth’s.

There is a 60% chance of over 2.5 goals.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Prediction:

Andoni Iraola is setting out his Bournemouth side to be tough and focused and once you play them you know you’ve been in a game. Perhaps the club will suffer some heavy losses this season, on paper one could see this but for now they look like a side who may struggle overall but be hard to beat and that should be a good sign for fans to see that the team do look very committed. In the past we have seen Tottenham fail against sides with this mentality.

However we need to give Tottenham the benefit of the doubt with a new manager in charge and at a decent price given the attacking quality in the squad we will be backing Tottenham to get the win. The club in the absence of Harry Kane really need Heung Min-Son to get back to his best form and we will be backing him to get on the score sheet. Watch out for Richarlison too who will be looking to prove a point but there has to be question marks over him if he will get the full 90 minutes, we are expecting that Son will.

Bournemouth vs Tottenham Betting Tips:

Tottenham to beat Bournemouth at 1.91

Anytime goalscorer: Heung- Min Son at 2.75
