England Premier League
Saturday 4th May 2019
Kick off at 12.30pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium
Match Preview:
Bournemouth have lost 3 of their last 5 games coming into this match and with them safe now on 42 points one could wonder what the motivation for the club would be? But there will be motivation given that this match against Tottenham is their final home game of the season and the club who have famously beaten Chelsea 4-0 here this season will want to put in a performance.
Eddie Howe’s side’s last game finished 3-3 away to Southampton and their last home match ended in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at the hands of already relegated Fulham. At home overall the club’s recent form has been very poor with 3 defeats in their last four games and no wins in almost 3 months.
Tottenham have a lot on their plate. The club lost their 1st leg Champions League match at home to Ajax 1-0. However with the result being so close the club will fancy their chances for the 2nd leg and surely this will be on their mind when they play this game.
However this is an important match for the club, who could, in theory seal the deal finally for a top 4 place with a win here. There is the possibility of Tottenham crashing out of the Champions League and not making the top 4, so this game must be taken incredibly seriously and yet it wouldn’t be a surprise if Mauricio Pochettino was to ring some changes.
Tottenham find themselves in pole position for a top 3 place and are 2 points clear of Chelsea. Form has dipped with 2 losses in their last 3, their latest defeat was their first at the new stadium losing against West Ham. Away from home the club have a hit a disastrous spell losing their last 5 in a row.
Team News:
Bournemouth: Dan Gosling could be assessed after picking up a calf injury last week. He is the only new injury concern for the club but they have the likes of Diego Roco, Junior Stanislas, Andrew Surman and Charlie Daniels all out long term
Tottenham: Serge Aurier, Harry Kane and Erik Lamela are in conditional training with a hope of returning at some point before the end of the season, although not all look like doing so, they will all miss this game though. Jan Vertonghen is set to miss this game with a head injury he sustained in the Ajax match
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Head to Head:
Earlier this season Tottenham beat Bournemouth 5-0.
Last season in this fixture Tottenham won 4-1.
Tottenham have won the last 4 meetings between the teams.
Tottenham have scored 10 goals against Bournemouth in their last 3 meetings.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Prediction:
Tottenham will be the favourites to win the match, but they do have some key injuries and some of the quality attacking players such as Heung-Min Son and Dele Alli will either be saved more for the Ajax match or play here and have that match on their mind. Pochettino’s job is to remind his team that they have two important games coming up, not just one.
Christian Eriksen and Son have scored 5 goals between them in the last 3 meetings against Bournemouth and it might be worth looking into them getting on the score sheet here.
Bournemouth vs Tottenham Betting Tips:
Both teams to score at 1.57
Anytime goalscorer: Heung-Min Son at 2.00
Anytime goalscorer: Christian Eriksen at 3.75
