Bournemouth vs Man City: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 2nd March 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth were hit for five goals against Arsenal and that heavy loss will have hurt the teams confidence coming into this game. Indeed Eddie Howe’s side who have punched above their weight for most of the season are struggling recently having gone their last 4 games without victory.

They have slipped down to 12th place although a win at the weekend and other results going their way could see the club move back up to the top 10, that is how close it is at the moment in the middle tier of the league.

But Bournemouth are never an easy game when they are at home, which has been proven by the fact that they have lost just 3 times this season. There have been some good results too including winning 4-0 against Chelsea and the club are no push overs in front of their home fans.

On first glance at Manchester City’s 1-0 win over West Ham in midweek which took a contentious Sergio Aguero penalty to settle scores, one could have believed that the Premier League champions had struggled during the game. The reality was that they played very well and dominated and it was just one of those games where the ball wouldn’t go in the back of the net.

City though we need to impose themselves more on this game to get the win. Form is good for Pep Guardiola’s side who come into this match having won their last 4 games in a row. The club have also won 3 of their last 4 matches away from home with their last away game ending in a 2-0 victory over Everton.

City remain 1 point behind Liverpool and cannot afford to slip up as they continue to chase The Reds.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Jefferson Lerma is suspended for this game for picking up 10 yellow cards during the season. Dominic Solanke will be assessed after his thigh injury. Callum Wilson is fighting to be fit for this game but could be another week away

Manchester City: Fernandinho has a muscle injury. Gabriel Jesus missed City’s midweek game and has a hamstring injury which he looks set to miss this match too. John Stones has a groin strain

Bournemouth vs Man City Head to Head:

Earlier this season Manchester City won this fixture 3-1.

Last season Manchester City beat Bournemouth away from home 2-1.

Manchester City have won the last 7 meetings between the sides in a row.

Bournemouth vs Man City Prediction:

Manchester City will have to be at their best to win this game, and a draw just won’t do. Bournemouth have proven how solid they have been at home and will be no pushovers. They may though revert to 5 at the back and go for at least a point, and it will be easy to see why because who can play toe to toe with City’s attack at the moment?

While we think City have more than enough to win the game they are not good odds, being quoted at 1.20 to win a game away to a decent side who have a good record at home. Instead we will back Bournemouth but on the handicap to get something for us at the weekend. Also, Raheem Sterling has scored against Bournemouth the last 5 times they have played, so we will back him to get a goal in this match.

Bournemouth vs Man City Betting Tips:

Bournemouth to beat Manchester City with a +3 goal start at 1.50

Anytime goalscorer (Raheem Sterling) at 2.00
