Match Preview:

Gary O’ Neil is under pressure to keep his job at Bournemouth and whilst in the past clubs were not regularly sacking managers with just two months of the season left that trend has taken shape given that a change of manager can influence a few results which could mean all the difference come May. O’ Neil had started brightly but a real lack of quality in this Cherries side has been telling and they come into this weekend in bottom place on goal difference to Southampton.

It’s not been all bad for Bournemouth recently with 4 points won from their last 12 and while that isn’t the greatest of returns it did feel that the club were about to find form with a draw against Newcastle and a win over Wolves. However they have lost their last two games but should they really affect the clubs confidence when those defeats were against Arsenal and Manchester City? Let’s also remember that the Cherries had given Arsenal a real fright and led twice in that game only to lose to a last kick 98th minute winner.

Liverpool recorded one of their most infamous victories in their history as they thrashed Manchester United 7-0 at Anfield. It was a stunning result and even more impressive given United’s brilliant run of form over the last three months. Liverpool have been the buzz word and the buzz team and after a nightmare season it is correct to think that Jurgen Klopp’s side are back? The Reds have won 4 of their last 5 games and have conceded no goals in their last five games also. Their mission is to finish in 4th place and qualify for the Champions League next season and they are well on their way to doing so. They are currently in 5th place and 3 points behind 4th placed Tottenham and have a game in hand.

On the road the Reds have suffered and it’s really their home form that is giving them a chance. Currently Liverpool would rank in 10th place on away games only and they have lost 50% of their matches on the road. The good news is that Klopp’s side have managed to go their last two games unbeaten after victory over Newcastle and a 0-0 draw against Crystal Palace.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Jefferson Lerma is being tipped to return from a muscle injury but will be assessed first. Lloyd Kelly could also return and is back in training but David Brooks misses out once again due to his hamstring. Junior Stanislas has a knock and looks like he will miss out but could be back next week. Hamed Traore will be assessed after his hamstring injury, Marcus Tavernier is set to miss out again and Illnia Zabarnyi remains a doubt with his ankle injury.

Liverpool: An update on Luis Diaz who has missed a chunk of the season suggests he could return in 3 weeks from his knee injury. Joseph Gomez will be assessed as he has recovered from injury, Naby Keita will also be assessed due to his recent knock. Thiago Alcantara remains out for at least another 3 weeks due to his ongoing hip injury.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Liverpool won 9-0.

Liverpool have won the last seven meetings in a row.

The last 10 games in a row have all seen over 2.5 goals.

The teams have played each other 18 times and Bournemouth has just 1 win, in 2016, at home, which they won 4-3.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Prediction:

Liverpool have just scored 7 goals in their last game and the last time they played Bournemouth it was 9, so how many goals will they get in this game? The victory over Manchester United was of course a fantastic result but if the Reds were to slip up here and even get a draw then winning 7-0 last weekend won’t mean much and will be a blow to their top four chances. We don’t see that happening though and it is clear as daylight that Liverpool are on the up and they looked to have turned a corner. In fairness that has been the deal at home but there have been question marks on the road although they have managed to go their last two games unbeaten now.

Liverpool need to turn up again and against Bournemouth they usually do. The Cherries are in deep trouble now but they have also been unlucky with their last 3 fixtures all being against top quality sides, but we would be stunned if they got anything here with the form they have been showing and the ascendency is absolutely with Liverpool, we don’t see any other outcome.
