Bournemouth vs Liverpool: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 7th December 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth will be the clear underdogs to win this game when they take on Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

Eddie Howe’s side are 12th coming into this game and are going through arguably their worst period of the season having lost their last 4 consecutive games. Their latest defeat came against Crystal Palace in midweek.

Bournemouth have not won a game since beating Manchester United a month ago but at home the club have only lost two games so far this season. Indeed from their last five home games they have just one loss although that did occur in their last game here going down to Wolves 2-1.

Liverpool are on top of the world after they beat city rivals Everton 5-2 in midweek. Top of the table on 43 points, the club are 8 points in front of Leicester and a massive 11 points in front of current champions Manchester City. Everyone is waiting for the slip up, but it isn’t happening.

The Reds have won 14 games from 15 with one draw and are in irresistible form. Jurgen Klopp was able to rest some players in the Merseyside derby including benching Mohammed Salah, such is the confidence he has in his players. Liverpool have the best away record and have won 4 of their last five games on the road they are scoring almost 2 goals a game on average.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Lloyd Kelly looks set to miss another week with a thigh injury. Steve Cook look like he will struggle to make the game with a wrist injury. Harry Wilson cannot play in this match as Liverpool are his parent club

Liverpool: Fabinho has been confirmed to be ruled out for the rest of the year after his ankle injury v Napoli

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Last season Liverpool won this fixture 4-0.

Liverpool have scored 14 goals against Bournemouth in their last 4 meetings.

Bournemouth last beat Liverpool when at home in 2016 in a 4-3 win and have failed to score against them in the last four games.

Bournemouth vs Liverpool Prediction:

Liverpool have been winning games but it has been interesting to see that the winning margins have been very slim. However after scoring 5 goals against Everton we could have a situation where Liverpool can smell blood so to speak and come here and score quite a few, watch out for a well rested Salah. It does seem now that Liverpool’s biggest enemy could be themselves and complacency, but at least on paper this match looks like an away win. Klopp was able to rest some players in midweek and that is another advantage given that the fixtures will be piling up for them in the next few weeks.

As for Bournemouth they aren’t easy to beat at home but the focus at the club isn’t as strong as it was a few weeks back and there has been speculation that manager Eddie Howe could be tipped to leave the club for Arsenal or Everton. There just doesn’t seem to be much calmness at the club right now and that could backfire on them.
