Bournemouth vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 12th July 2020
Kick off at 7pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth come into this game in 18th place, just one point ahead of Aston Villa who have 27 points. They are now 6 points from safety and look doomed. In short they really have to win this one.

However the omens do not look good for Eddie Howe’s side who have picked up just 5 points from their last 10 games. At home they have won 18 points from their overall total of 28 but have gone the last 4 games at Vitality Stadium without a win. We would have to go back to February for their last victory here which was ironically against Aston Villa.

Confidence will be low as the club have lost 4 of their last 5 games, and were beaten heavily by Man Utd and Newcastle. Their last game however was a well earned point against Tottenham.

Leicester’s Champions League dream is still on but it looks fragile now. They have given up 3rd place to Chelsea and Manchester United are right on their tails. Form has been mixed for the Foxes who have won just 1 game in their past five with results being dogged by draws. Their last draw though would have been seen as a major plus given that they were trailing Arsenal at the Emirates and a Jamie Vardy goal ensured that they went away with a 1-1 draw, it was a good result given the recent form of Arsenal.

Leicester have lost 6 games away from home but what might be worrying for manager Brendan Rodgers is that they have no wins on the road since the beginning of the year.

Team News:

Bournemouth:  David Brooks and Adam Smith are doubtful to play after picking up injuries in their 0-0 draw against Spurs.

Leicester:  Ben Chilwell and James Maddison are doubts to be included in this game.

Bournemouth vs Leicester Head to Head:

Earlier in the season Leicester won 3-1.

Last season Bournemouth won this game 4-2.

Leicester have not beaten Bournemouth at this stadium since 2014.

7 from 9 games played in the Premier League have ended under 2.5 goals.

Bournemouth vs Leicester Prediction:

Bournemouth showed fight against Tottenham, and secured a valuable point. However this will be a tough game for the home side who could well get outclassed. Leicester need to wake up a bit and maybe not losing to Arsenal could do that. Jamie Vardy looks like he has the fire in the belly again after getting off to a slow restart, but he is scoring goals again and of course he will want to be crowned top goalscorer this season. Obviously the priority is finishing in the top 4. Finishing 5th may still get a Champions League place if Manchester City are thrown out of Europe but no one can be relying on that to qualify.

Bournemouth vs Leicester Betting Tips:

Leicester to beat Bournemouth at 1.70

Anytime goalscorer: Jamie Vardy at 1.80
