Bournemouth vs Leicester: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 8th October 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth are still unbeaten under Gary O’ Neil and it’s been four games now since Scott Parker was sacked and if truth be told the Cherries are playing better football. Not many would have expected this and under normal circumstances the club could well have folded and players lost heart so that is a credit to them that they have picked up 5 points in those games. Their last match was also at home and that ended 0-0 against Brentford.

Currently Bournemouth are in 13th place but there is that lingering danger of the bottom three given that their form could take a nosedive and that they are just 3 points from the bottom three. However home form has seen just one loss and they have drawn their last two games here. They have won just once here and that came back in August against Aston Villa.

Finally after 8 games Leicester won and it seemed well worth the wait for the home fans as the Foxes crushed hapless Nottingham Forest 4-0 at King Power Stadium last Monday evening. Despite Leicester’s horrific form this kind of result did look on the cards with the quality within the side and it felt only a matter of time before the players clicked and Forest were the ones to take that beating. Despite the victory a lot of pressure remains on manager Brendan Rodgers as Leicester only went from the bottom of the table to 19th. The Foxes currently have the worst away record in the Premier League with zero points earned so far and they are the only club not to gain any points on the road. Their last away game ended in a 6-2 defeat against Tottenham and they are conceding an average of four goals per game.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Ryan Fredericks is finally being tipped to play after fitness issues following injury. David Brooks is out long term with his hamstring as is Lloyd Kelly with his ankle. Ben Pearson and Joe Rothwell will both be assessed because of a lack of match fitness but could well be involved. Junior Stanilas isn’t expected back until next week due to a muscle injury.

Leicester: Ndidi has had a setback and isn’t due back until the end of the month due to his hamstring. Nampalys Mendy is a huge doubt but could return next week from a knee injury. Ricardo Pereira and Ryan Bertrand are out long term.

Bournemouth vs Leicester Head to Head:

The last time the clubs met was 2 years ago and Bournemouth won 4-1 at home.

From the last 10 meetings Leicester has just two victories and they haven’t beaten Bournemouth away since 2014.

There have been 17 goals in the last four meetings.

Bournemouth vs Leicester Prediction:

You have to give Bournemouth and Gary O’ Neil a lot of credit for what they have achieved in the last month, it really has been terrific if not the most entertaining football but their objective is simple and that is to survive in their first season back.

The value on any club to win is good and while Leicester have had a shocking start to the season some of their magic resurfaced against Nottingham Forest and we expect Brendan Rodgers side to be strong in this game. Midfielder James Maddison has been getting a lot of press recently and is being tipped to make the England team on current form, he can assist and in the absence of Jamie Vardy’s goals this season he has been scoring too. There will be a swagger about the club after finally getting that first win and like a forward searching for their first goal after a dry spell we expect Leicester’s season to really kick off now and will be backing them to win again. We will also back man of the moment Maddison to score again, he is absolutely buzzing at the moment and is a great price to do so.
