Bournemouth vs Leeds: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Vitality Stadium

Match Preview:

Bournemouth like Wolves and West Ham have been one of the relegation threatened teams who have been able to push on at the right moment and with 36 points they look like being safe but will feel another win from their 5 remaining games will be able to do the job.

The Cherries got a very important victory in midweek away to Southampton winning 1-0 and that may well have sealed Southampton’s fate. As for Gary O’ Neil’s side that win moved them up to 14th place coming into this weekend and seven points clear of the danger zone. It’s been 3 wins from their last four and the players look confident and while overall away form remains a worry the players will be happy to return to home. It is true that the club have lost two home games in a row including a 4-0 battering against West Ham but it is at home most likely where the club are going to find the points to confirm their status for next season and they have won 19 of their 36 points so far here.

It seems likely that any club from 16th could go down and in 16th place coming into this weekend are Leeds. They have 30 points and are just one point above the relegation zone and a win here would be huge for Javi Gracia’s side. Recent results have been poor for Leeds though with no wins in their last 4 and just 1 point earned from their last 12 on offer. That one point at least did come in their last game as they drew 1-1 with Leicester in midweek a club who are in 17th place. It is very tight down there and 3 points would feel like six at this current time but Leeds have not travelled well this season with just 9 points won from a possible 48. It’s just two wins so far although they did beat Wolves 4-2 last month but have lost 4 of their last 5 away games with their last finishing in a 2-1 loss against Fulham.

Team News:

Bournemouth: Marcus Tavenier will be assessed due to a tight hamstring, Hamed Traore could miss out again with a foot injury. Junior Stanislas and Ryan Fredericks are both sidelined with a knock and calf injury respectively.

Leeds: Luis Sinisterra is out for the season with an ankle injury, Maximilian Wober is being tipped to return for this game after his hamstring injury but will be assessed. Tyler Adams and Stuart Dallas remain out long term.

Bournemouth vs Leeds Head to Head:

The clubs have only faced each other 14 times and Leeds have 11 wins.

Bournemouth’s only victory over Leeds came in 2014 in the Championship when they won 4-1.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Leeds won 4-3.

3 of the last four meetings has seen over 3.5 goals.

Bournemouth vs Leeds Prediction:

We expect to see end to end action because Leeds have nothing to lose, they must go for it and one of the problems about being down there in the league table is that draws are no good, they are small steps when you need giant ones so we expect Leeds to give everything here. The club have problems though, notably that their away form is very poor and that Luis Sinisterra who has been so influential for the side this season will be out for months and miss the rest of the campaign, it is a huge blow for the side.

Bournemouth have a poor record over Leeds but can argue that the clubs have only played each other 5 times in the last decade and that is why we think that looking back into past results isn’t the best option when assessing this game. The game could be heading for a draw but we will back the Cherries to win (with the draw covered on the refund) and confirm their survival at home.
