England Premier League
Tuesday 21st January 2020
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: Vitality Stadium
Match Preview:
Bournemouth lost their 4th game in a row but this latest one at the weekend felt more significant than the others. A poor display and defeat against the bottom club Norwich, means that Eddie Howe’s team are now in 19th place and just three points from the bottom, and it's starting to feel like the players are no longer putting a shift in for Eddie Howe. They are also 3 points adrift from safety and this match really feels like a must win for the club who return home to Vitality Stadium.
The clubs last win came in mid-December when they stunned Chelsea and in fact they do have a tendency to pick up points against the better sides, with the clubs last points coming in a draw against Arsenal five games ago. Home form is poor and the worst in the league where from a possible 33 points they have won just 10, wining just two games at home this season, and they have lost 4 of their last five home games.
Brighton are in 15th but are no way safe and are only 5 points ahead of their hosts and three points from the relegation zone. The club drew 1-1 with Aston Villa in a nervy game at the weekend and they have recorded no wins in their last three matches.
Graham Potter’s side have one of the worst away records in the league where they have lost 7 games from 11. Tottenham and Everton have beaten the club in their last two trips and their last away win came against Arsenal at the beginning of December.
Team News:
Bournemouth: Lloyd Kelly has fitness issues and will undergo a test before being selected. Steve Cook is suspended for this game.
Brighton: Beram Kayal is 50/50 with a groin injury and looks set to miss this game.
Bournemouth vs Brighton Head to Head:
The last time the clubs played here Brighton won 3-1.
Earlier this season in the reverse fixture Brighton won 2-0.
3 from the last 4 meetings has only seen one side score.
Bournemouth vs Brighton Prediction:
Both sides are in poor form and we think this game could well replicate that. Our choices will be to see the game have the correct score of 0-0 at half time. As a consequence we will also back more goals to be scored in the 2nd half, and we don’t expect there to be many. Both sides will be cagey and cautious and in this mid week game it’s possible to see a match that doesn’t have many chances for either side, who may just be happy to settle for one point.
