England Premier League
Sunday 3rd December 2023
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: Vitality Stadium
Match Preview:
Bournemouth will not be the favourites to win this game despite being at home but let’s remember that the Cherries are in 16th place coming into this weekend and are already 16 points behind their opponents. However recent form has been good with 3 wins from their last four games including victories over Burnley, Sheffield United and most notably Newcastle. The Newcastle win is Bournemouth’s latest home game and they won that 2-0, inciting protests from the visiting fans. Granted Newcastle went into the clash with a lot of injuries but it was still an impressive result. With 12 points to their name the club are still in the danger zone and a bad month could easily see them sucked into the bottom three. However 8 of their 12 points have come at home and although they have lost here three times already they have also won their last two at home.
Aston Villa have been excellent this season and come into the weekend in 4th place with 28 points. It’s four wins from their last five games and last weekend they were able to hand Tottenham a defeat in a 2-1 victory. Villa has the chance to spoil a top four party for the usual suspects and pound for pound have to be considered as the best team in the league. Villa have been solid at home although on the road they have lost 3 of their seven games so far, although in beating Tottenham they did win their last outing. It’s also worth noting that away form has improved with just one defeat in their past four which came against Nottingham Forest.

Bournemouth vs Aston Villa Prediction:
On the face of it this should be an Aston Villa victory but they will need to be aware and alert. This is a Bournemouth side who can raise their game and make life difficult for top six opponents. They will understand that the only way they can survive this season will be through home form and they are in general good form overall and have of course beaten Newcastle recently here.
This is in fact a big game for Aston Villa, it is these types of games the consistent wins over clubs in the bottom half of the table that can boost top four hopes and that feels like counting double when you can achieve this away from home. Keep an eye on the team news because Ollie Watkins is a slight doubt and is so important for Villa. This hasn’t been a happy hunting ground for Villa in recent years but they are a very strong side this season so that may be about to change.
