England Premier League
Saturday 13th May 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
Between February and April there were not many better in form sides than Aston Villa and the job Unai Emery has done to take them from the bottom half of the table to in contention for finishing in a European place is nothing short of sensational. However some will wonder if the wheels are coming off as Villa come into this game having lost their last two. The first of those defeats came against Manchester United away from home which could be expected and it was a narrow 1-0 loss. However the Villains also came up short against Wolves in another 1-0 loss. The good news perhaps is that both games were away from home and you get the feeling that the players will be relishing returning home.
Villa have slipped down to 8th place with 54 points but they could go above Brighton and also join Tottenham on the same points with victory here. The club have won their last 5 games in a row at home with their latest victory coming against Fulham and they have also recently beaten Nottingham Forest and Newcastle here and are a clear danger for Ryan Mason’s side.
Tottenham have blown goodbye to a Champions League place, granted that isn’t mathematically over for them but it will be soon enough and their target now has to be a Europa League finish. Form has been poor although they did manage to win their last game which came against Crystal Palace by 1-0. But fans will be genuinely worried by away form which has seen the club ship 10 goals in their last two games on the road. A win here can’t change Tottenham’s position of sixth place but it would place them just two points behind fifth placed Liverpool who don’t play until Monday.
Team News:
Aston Villa: The Villains have no new injuries to report.
Tottenham: Clement Lenglet has a shoulder injury but according to his manager should be fine for this game. Hugo Lloris and Ryan Sessegnon are out for the season.
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Head to Head:
Last season Tottenham won this fixture 4-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Aston Villa won 2-0.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Prediction:
Both sides have shaky form coming into this game and a loss for Villa dents all of their European hopes while for Tottenham a Europa League place may suddenly look distant. The good news for Tottenham is that they appear to love playing at Villa Park and these matches have thrown up some strange games for example Villa usually do well away and Tottenham do very well on the road too- perhaps these two clubs need to change stadiums!
On the serious side Tottenham are good value to win here but recent form suggests Villa will be very hard to beat at Villa Park, and with the draw covered on the refund, we think "draw no bet" Villa could be the value bet here. We also expect an end to end game and plenty of goals.
Aston Villa vs Tottenham Betting Tips:
Draw no bet (Aston Villa) at 1.71
Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 2.30
Both teams to score at 1.60
