England Premier League
Monday 25th November 2019
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
The Monday night game will see Aston Villa in 17th take on Newcastle in 13th and a win for the home side would take them within a point of the Magpies. However Steve Bruce’s side has the chance to extend their lead over Villa to 7 points with victory at Villa Park.
Aston Villa are in poor form and have lost their way a bit, losing their last 3 consecutive games. Although the club will point to the fact that they have had to face both Liverpool and Manchester City in those games and the Liverpool defeat was very close.
Still the club have lost 7 games from 12 and at current form they would finish the league with about 35 points which in most seasons has meant relegation. They will have to step up their game especially at home if they are to survive this season. With just 1 win in their last four games here, which came against Brighton, that just underlines the problems Dean Smith’s side faces.
Newcastle are in their best form of the season and have lost just one game in their last 5. They come into this game after winning back to back matches against Bournemouth and West Ham. A win for the Magpies would shoot them into the top half of the table which was unthinkable a month ago as the club under Bruce looked destined for a relegation fight.
On the road Newcastle don’t fair well though and have lost 4 of their six games, the only encouraging side is that they won their last away match against West Ham.
