England Premier League
Saturday 15th April 2023
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
Aston Villa are one of the most in form sides in the league and they have won their last 4 to climb up to a staggering 6th place. It has been some turnaround for the club since appointing Unai Emery when their Premier League status looked under threat. No longer is that a problem, now the Villains have every chance to finish in a European position.
The gap to fifth is six points but the worry in dropping places will come from Brighton who are in seventh place but have two games in hand over Emery’s side, the objective for the next six weeks is to keep on winning and all indications look good. Villa’s last game finished in a home 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest and they have managed to only concede one goal from their last four games. At home it’s 8 wins so far and recent form has seen the club win their last 3.
Newcastle like Aston Villa have impressed this season and Eddie Howe’s side have Champions League qualification as a real target. The Magpies have won their last 5 games and come into this weekend in 3rd place with 56 points. Manchester United have the same points and with Tottenham just three points behind them a top four finish is far from assured yet. There have been some statement wins from Newcastle lately like beating Manchester United 2-0 and smashing West Ham 5-1 away from home. Newcastle’s last away game ended in a 2-1 victory at Brentford and with how the fixtures have worked out this will be the clubs 3rd away game in a row.

Aston Villa vs Newcastle Prediction:
This could be one of the most interesting fixtures of the weekend in the Premier League as we have two sides in a rich vein of form about to clash. It could well be advantage Aston Villa being the home side but they also have a very good record over the Magpies here. The h2h will tell you that it has been almost 10 years since Newcastle recorded a victory here and also the last 3 games played here have all ended not just in victories for Villa but the same scoreline of 2-0.
We are going to edge with the home side. Now they are in a European place their manager Unai Emery will demand that at least at home the club pick up maximum points from now until the end of the season, given his excellent pedigree in Europe he will be determined for his side not to make any mistakes as the season draws to a close. Newcastle will have plenty of chances but Villa are great value here and if they can keep their focus and shape we expect them to win especially if they can open the scoring.
