England Premier League
Sunday 11th February 2024
Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
After facing no defeats at home this season Aston Villa have now lost two in a row. The first was against Newcastle in the league losing that game 3-1 and Chelsea came up to Villa Park in midweek and knocked them out of the FA Cup with that match also finishing 3-1. In between those defeats Villa smashed Sheffield United 5-0 away from home but questions will be asked of them this weekend. Villa are still having a superb season and if they were to finish in the top four this would has to be seen as a success but you get the feeling that Unai Emery’s side want to fight for the title, win again at the weekend and they will be right in the mix. Form has dipped in the league though with 7 points won from their last 15 on offer but at home they still have an outstanding record with 9 wins from 11 games, they also have the joint most goals scored at home with 30 so far.
Manchester United have moved into sixth place coming into this weekend and they will have their sights on trying to catch up to not just Aston Villa but Tottenham. By all accounts it has been a mixed season for Erik ten Hag’s side however they have managed to go their last three games in a row unbeaten. United have drawn 2-2 with Tottenham and won their last 2 games against Wolves and West Ham. These last few weeks would have been more encouraging for Ten Hag who has seen his side score 7 goals in their last two league games. On the road the club would rank in 8th place having secured 16 points from a possible 33, they have won 5 but also lost 5 and that sums up the clubs inconsistencies in this season.

Aston Villa vs Man Utd Prediction:
We do believe that goals will be the order of the day. This is a fixture that consistently produces them but also both clubs are scoring goals, and we expect this game to be open. Both clubs cannot be cautious as other teams around them pick up points and so we expect both teams will really go for this one. Aston Villa need to focus again and get back to the football that made them so good at home, a home where they have already beaten both Manchester City and Arsenal. If we get that version from Emery’s side then we will expect them to win this game.
As for Manchester United they have put in some brave swashbuckling performances lately. They still need to win the trust of many backers though, because time and again just when we think they are a side capable of going on a good run it all falls apart. For this we may be entertained to what could possibly be the most fascinating game of the weekend in the Premier League.
