Match Preview:
Aston Villa have not picked up a win since the restart and just 2 points from their last five games. They come into this match in 18th place with 27 points but are now 4 points from safety after Watford and West Ham have pushed on.
Villa’s latest defeat came at Liverpool losing 2-0 and they have now lost 20 games, the chances of the club surviving are looking more and more bleak though this is their game in and over Watford, the problem is their opponent.
Villa have only won 5 games at home this season and you would have to go back to January for their last victory here.
Manchester United have been the best team in the league on form, they have simply been rampant and are scoring goals, 11 in their last 3 matches. They come into this game having beaten Bournemouth 5-2, one of Villa’s direct rivals for relegation and have won their last 3 games in a row.
This is a huge game for United who are playing their game in hand over Leicester and a win would move them just 1 point behind the Foxes with four games to play. United have only won 5 games on the road this season but at the same time it is only recent form that should count and they have really turned around their fortunes and are unbeaten away from home in their last four games picking up 8 points along the way.

Aston Villa: Matt Targett is set to miss this game with a hamstring injury but could return the following week.
Manchester United: Phil Jones isn’t expected back for at least two more weeks, Victor Lindelof has picked up a back injury though, at present, it is thought to be minor and he will be assessed.

Aston Villa need to give everything in this game, but the only way they will win it is if Manchester United do not perform. The Red Devils are looking brilliant at the moment and they cannot afford to drop points and let Leicester maintain a lead over them. It only takes a good run for Leicester to end United’s dream, and we don’t see Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team coming up short against the 18th placed side. United have blown hot and cold whilst the Norwegian has been in charge but they are as hot as the sun right now.
There are goals all over United with Bruno Fernandes, Antony Martial and now Mason Greenwood impressing. In contrast Villa have scored 2 goals since the restart, if they were to get any points in this game we would be looking at one of the big surprises of the season. To put the icing on the cake as why we shouldn’t back Villa here is the fact that they have not beaten United in 11 years.
