England Premier League
Saturday 4th February 2023
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
Unai Emery is doing the required job at Aston Villa, which for this season was not to be dragged into a relegation battle but that isn’t going to happen as they come into this fixture 11 points ahead of the bottom three. Form has been very solid too with no defeats this year in the league and they have gone their last 4 games without losing, picking up 3 wins. Leeds and Southampton have both been beaten in the last two games and Villa will start as favourites to make it 3 wins in a row. Victory could see Emery’s side move up 3 places and into the top 10 so this is a huge game for the club.
The Villains are back at home where they have won 50% of their games so far with 8 points won from their last 15 on offer and 17 of their 28 points have come at home.
Brendan Rodgers is really feeling the heat once again and it has been a surprise that Leicester haven’t sacked him given how managers fall in the current game. The Foxes started the campaign slowly but picked up form for a good six weeks but it has slipped off again and they have won just 1 point from their last 15. They did stop the rot somewhat by drawing in their last game against Brighton with that one finishing 2-2. Leicester are in 14th place which feels slightly secure but don’t be mislead, it is very tight down there at the moment and they are just 1 point shy from a bottom three place.
Team News:
Aston Villa: Lucas Digne has a chance to return from his shoulder injury and will be assessed. John McGinn is only 50/50 to return from a hamstring injury. Diego Carlos is 4-5 weeks away because of his on going Achilles injury.
Leicester: Sammy Braybook could well miss the rest of the season with a knee injury. Jonny Evans is missing again due to his calf. Ndidi could be assessed after a spell out on the sidelines, Jamie Vardy is out with a glute injury but should return next week. Boubakary Soumare has a hamstring injury and his earliest return won’t be for another 2 weeks. Ricardo Pereira is set to miss out again due to his Achilles but he could return next week.
Aston Villa vs Leicester Head to Head:
Last season Aston Villa won this fixture 2-1.
There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score.
Two from the last 3 meetings has seen over 2.5 goals.
Aston Villa vs Leicester Prediction:
Our first pick will be to see both teams to score. Leicester have been struggling of late even to score goals however they put two past a very good Brighton side and there is a good return to see this market come in for this fixture.
Away form remains a real worry for the Foxes who have lost 70% of their games on the road and won 3, they are yet to draw and have lost their last two. This is a game that we don’t think Villa will lose, but if they drop two points and get a draw it may feel like that given the momentum that is at the club right now. Still we will back the home win and decent value as we don’t see Leicester picking up too many points away from home this season.
