England Premier League
Tuesday 25th April 2023
Kick off at 7:45pm BST
Venue: Villa Park
Match Preview:
Aston Villa have been one of the most impressive teams in the Premier League over the past six weeks although last weekend their winning run came to an end however they didn’t lose and instead were able to get a 1-1 draw with Brentford. It’s been an incredible run for Unai Emery’s side who have their sights set on a Europa League finish and they may get it given that with 51 points they are just two shy of 5th placed Tottenham. Of course the Premier League does not let you rest for a moment and Liverpool and Brighton are right behind.
Home form for the Villains has been excellent with 4 straight wins and in their last game here they were able to beat Newcastle 3-0 and it feels like Emery’s side have climbed up many levels in the last few months and European qualification of some sort should be on the cards for them. Fulham had gone through a torrid month that saw the Cottagers lose four games in that time but Marco Silva’s side have recovered somewhat and come into this game having won their last two. Wins have come against Everton and Leeds, two very good tests given that both clubs are fighting for survival. The Cottagers are in 9th place with 45 points and are six behind their hosts and haven’t given up their European chances themselves although a loss here and wins for teams above them may kiss their European dreams goodbye for this season. Away form has seen six wins but seven defeats and from their last four games they have won 2 and lost 2, it has clearly been a mixed bag for Silva’s side when playing away.

Aston Villa vs Fulham Head to Head:
The last time the clubs played each other in this fixture was in 2021 and Aston Villa won 3-1.
It’s been 9 years since Fulham beat Aston Villa when playing at Villa Park in the league.
The last four meetings have all seen over 2.5 goals.
Aston Villa vs Fulham Prediction:
One interesting point of course is that Fulham beat Aston Villa 3-0 in the reverse fixture however fortunes have changed for both sides since they played that game back in October. We feel that Villa are very equipped to get the victory and traditionally there has always been a stronger advantage for a home side in a midweek evening game. Villa look slick and have a project to try and qualify for the Europa League and we don’t see their form dropping off from now until the end of the season.
To their credit Fulham have picked themselves back up after poor form and it’s no mean feat to have done that by winning back to back games. However away games and especially to this current Villa side are going to continue to be difficult and perhaps the Cottagers will find more joy at home. This game could end their interest in European football so we expect a good match for them, and we should therefore witness a very entertaining game.
