Aston Villa vs Brighton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 19th October 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Villa Park

Match Preview:

Aston Villa manager Dean Smith would have been delighted with his sides 5-1 victory over Norwich just before the international break. It is those type of games against fellow newly promoted teams and clubs around them that is a great pointer for staying up.

By far the victory over the Canaries was Villa’s best moment so far this season and the fact that it happened away from home was obviously the icing on the cake. They will be looking at this game and feeling they can win this one too.

Villa are in 15th place and are in fact only a point from the bottom three so it is imperative even at this early stage of the season that they kick on. Their latest victory was only the clubs 2nd so far this season.

Brighton are in 14th and have one more point than Villa so this is a real crunch game. Depending on other results a win could climb Brighton into the top 10. Form replicates Villa in that they won their last game which ended a run of 4 winless matches. That victory came against Tottenham in a superb 3-0 win.

Away from home Brighton have been poor with just one win from their opening four games, and they have gone their last 3 matches on the road without victory.

Team News:

The last time the teams played here was in 2018 when the match finished 1-1.

This decade the teams have met 4 times and there is a 100% success rate to see both teams to score.

Brighton have not beaten Aston Villa home and away since 1980.

Aston Villa vs Brighton Prediction:

This is a big test for Villa who looked so assured against Norwich and we are going to back the home side to get all 3 points but with the draw covered for extra security. We also can’t ignore the both teams to score statistic and that is worth looking into. Villa need to win their games at home, that will be the difference if they are a mid table side this season or a bottom three side. How much did they learn from that Norwich victory, consistency is key. Villa come back home having remained undefeated in their last 3 games.
