Arsenal vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 29th November 2020
Kick off at 7:15pm GMT
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

It’s not been a great start to the new Premier League season for Arsenal although in the Europa League they can do no wrong. The Gunners recorded a 3-0 win away to Molde in midweek and manager Mikel Arteta will be hoping that the taste of victory can set up his side for this game.

Back to the Premier League and Arteta will have concerns when he sees Arsenal are in 12th place and have lost 3 of their last five games. Last weekend the Gunners should have lost again but somehow weathered the Leeds United storm and that match finished 0-0.

But it will be worrying for Arsenal fans to see their rivals top of the league with a seven point gap between the two clubs. Arsenal’s only win in the past six weeks in the league has come against Manchester United.

At home Arsenal have a 50% win rate which is simply not good enough for where they need to be and they come into this match at the Emirates having lost their last two games here.

Wolves are in 9th place but just one point above Arsenal, and a win could see the club climb into the top six depending on other results around them.

Last weekend Wolves drew against the in form Southampton although they come into this fixture with no wins in their last two games. Form is decent with 8 points earned from their last 15 and they have just one defeat in their last five outings.

Nuno Espirito Santos side have won 2 and lost two games away from home and they lost their last away game at Leicester. They have beaten Leeds and Sheffield United on the road so far.

Team News:

Arsenal: Mohamed Eleny is being pencilled in to return after he caught Covid-19, it is the same situaton for Saed Kolasinac. David Luiz felt something in the clubs midweek match but should be fine for this game. Thomas Partey could miss out again as there has been no update on his thigh injury. Nicolas Pepe is suspended for the next 3 games after his red card last weekend. Willian is being pencilled in to return for this match after recovering from his calf injury.

Wolves: The only concern for the club is with Romain Saiss who is ruled out due to Covid-19.

Arsenal vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

3 of the last four meetings has seen both teams to score.

There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Arsenal vs Wolves Prediction:

One suspects that this is a bigger game for Arsenal than Wolves, this is meant in respect to the pressure on the managers. If Arsenal lose their 3rd game at home in a row and slip further down the table surely questions will start to be raised about Arteta’s future at the club. Make no mistake on a whole Arteta hasn’t done a terrible job but it could be argued that the Gunners have not progressed as they would have liked under him.

Wolves have not seemed as self assured like they have in the past 18 months but they do remain a danger and they can take inspiration from how Aston Villa performed here a few weeks ago.

This is a game that could be decided on the version of Arsenal which turn up, and recently it hasn't been the impressive version of Arsenal, therefore we think Wolves can come away with a point or maybe more. We also think this game could be higher scoring than many are predicting, therefore a "goal line (Over 2)" selection looks good value.

Arsenal vs Wolves Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (+0.5 Wolves) at 1.725

Goal line (Over 2) at 1.725
