England Premier League
Sunday 28th May 2023
Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Match Preview:
And so this season is not the one where Arsenal win their first league title in two decades, they came close and challenged and for most of the season were in 1st place. So while progress has been made everyone at the club will be disappointed. What is true is that the gap to Manchester City has always been close but there is a threat that the champions could win the league with a 10 point gap. This game will be about Arsenal trying to at least reduce that.
Current form is not encouraging for the Gunners as they have lost their last two games with defeats against Brighton and Nottingham Forest but this was also at a time that the realisation was kicking in that their title was slipping from their hands. They will be the favourites to win this game and there won’t be any pressure or toxic atmosphere either, the fans have really appreciated their team this season, but they will be expecting a good game to finish the season on.
Wolves are in 13th place and a win could see them go past Chelsea. Form has been a mixed bag but at the same time the club's season has been over for a good few weeks and after they secured early safety there simply hasn’t been much to play for. Wolves last result was a draw at home to Everton in a game that finished 1-1 and their last away game finished in a 2-0 defeat against Manchester United. If all results don’t go their way Wolves could actually finish the season in 16th place and at best in 12th place and of course there are different financial rewards depending on what position you finish in.
Team News:
Arsenal: Bukayo Saka and Leandro Trossard are both doubts as they are carrying knocks. Oleksandr Zinchenko is out with his calf, William Saliba is missing with a back injury, Mohamed Elneny is out with a knee injury. Reiss Nelson could return after illness.
Wolves: The club has no new injury concerns ahead of the game.
Arsenal vs Wolves Head to Head:
Last season Arsenal beat Wolves 2-1 in this fixture.
Arsenal have won the last 3 meetings in a row.
In almost 50 years Wolves have won just twice away to Arsenal, although the last time happened in 2020.
Arsenal vs Wolves Prediction:
Wolves have a poor away record and in fact has the 3rd to worst record having won just 2 games on the road so far. Arsenal have imploded but one can expect the team to be really up for this game. It is their season ending home game and should be a ‘thank you’ to the fans and we really expect the Gunners to put a shift in, of course so do the bookmakers and the 1.33 being quoted on a home win is going to put off some punters.
This is a game where Arsenal will surely come out of the traps and go for it. In Granit Xhaka we are reminded of Roberto Firmino who scored his final goal at Anfield in his final home game as he will be leaving in the summer, all reports point to the fact that Xhaka is off too and with perhaps some players missing up front for Arsenal he will get forward more, and we are tipping him to get on the score sheet.
Arsenal vs Wolves Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Arsenal) at 1.56
Anytime goalscorer: Gabriel Jesus at 2.10
Anytime goalscorer: Granit Xhaka at 4.00
Over 3.5 goals at 2.10
