Arsenal vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 29th September 2018
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Arsenal come into this game on a wave of optimism after winning 6 games in a row in all competitions and 4 in the Premier League. Fans have not seen days like this for a long time and everyone is now starting to warm to new manager Unai Emery.

The Gunners have climbed up to 6th place and on form only Liverpool have a better record. They have scored 5 goals in their last 2 home matches and will be aiming to continue that form when they take on Watford. In midweek they eased past Brentford 3-1 in the Carabao Cup to keep up their winning run.

Watford started the season with 4 wins out of 4 but that run was stopped by Manchester United who beat them before the Hornets could only draw away to Fulham. The good news is that they are still in the top four but Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester United are breathing down their necks. The club have only played two away games this season but come here nonetheless undefeated on the road so far.

On Wednesday Watford were dumped out of the Carabao Cup against Tottenham despite taking them to a penalty shoot out.

Team News:

Arsenal: The only major new injury is Sokratis who has a dead leg picked up in the defeat of Everton but is hoping to be a part of this game

Watford: Miguel Britos has a thigh strain and did not play in the Carabao Cup in midweek. Gerard Deulofeu is expected to return after picking up a muscle injury. Christian Kabasele is suspended for this game after being sent off against Spurs in the Carabao Cup. Stefano Okaka will be assessed for this game after picking up a knock in midweek

Arsenal vs Watford Head to Head:

Last season Arsenal won this fixture 3-0.

Watford have won 2 out of the last 3 meetings.

3 out of the last 4 meetings has seen both teams to score.

Arsenal vs Watford Prediction:

Arsenal should have enough to win this but Watford will be no pushovers. There just seems to be a little naivety with the away side but that shouldn’t take away their effort and commitment and they can certainly give the Gunners a few scares. Let’s be clear Arsenal are on a good run but have not been playing brilliant football, that’s why both sides can get goals here, but Arsenal have a great attack and that should count for more at the Emirates Stadium in the end with a narrow win.

Arsenal vs Watford Betting Tips:

Anytime goalscorer: Alexandre Lacazette 1.91

Watford to score a goal at 1.50
