Arsenal vs Tottenham: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 14th March 2021
Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Even though there are no fans for this north London derby, it's sure to have bite about it. Arsenal are trying to qualify for the Europa League after what has been a miserable season so far for the Gunners who come into this game in 10th place. Tottenham’s fortunes have got better with 3 consecutive wins and a happy Gareth Bale on board, and they have a chance for a top 4 place.

Arsenal did beat Olympiacos in the Europa League on Thursday 3-1. The Greek side knocked Arsenal out of the competition last season so this shows progress and Arsenal should have enough to make the quarter finals. The trip to Greece would not have been ideal for Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of this game though it has become clear that priority for the club now is to win the Europa League.

The Gunners drew 1-1 at Burnley last weekend and one could say that the club have improved this year but still from their last 30 points on offer they have only won 15, which simply isn’t good enough for the bar that the club have set themselves over the years. Arsenal’s last home game ended in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Manchester City. The club could go 9th if Aston Villa lose at the weekend.

Tottenham also played in the Europa League and they beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-0 on Thursday. The difference is that the club played at home with zero travel and that could be a factor in this game. Tottenham’s form is good with 3 wins in a row and they have scored 9 goals in that time. Gareth Bale and Harry Kane are scoring goals and there seems to be a new found confidence running throughout the club, at just the right time.

Tottenham could move up one or two places depending on other results and their objective of at least finishing in 4th place is on given that they are just 5 points behind Chelsea but have a game in hand.

Team News:

Arsenal: The Gunners have no injuries coming into this game.

Tottenham: Harry Kane has a knock but is being tipped to be fine for the game. Giovani Lo Celso could return but has some fitness issues and remains 50/50.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Head to Head:

Arsenal haven’t beaten Tottenham in the league since 2018.

Last season this fixture ended 2-2.

The last 3 league fixtures have had more goals in the first half.

Tottenham haven’t beaten Arsenal in the league at the Emirates since 2010.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Prediction:

Arsenal need to make that step up and the players and manager will be up for this derby game. The club would have taken great joy in beating Olympiacos in midweek and could see that as a starting block for better results. Manager Arteta has been bullish in the press and suggested that the club will pick up better results from now on and be a force for next season too.

Tottenham are in great form but haven’t beaten the top half teams in their good run, but the club will be very confident coming into this game. They need to find that swagger that they had at the beginning of the season, and if they do then they can win this game.

This is a very tricky game to call, and to be honest we wouldn't be surprised one bit if it ended in a draw, so we'll take a risk and go for that. We also see both teams getting on the scoresheet.

Arsenal vs Tottenham Betting Tips:

Full time result (Draw) at 3.40
