Match Preview:

Despite losing recently 3-1 to Manchester City, Arsenal have been in good form where they have won 3 from their last 4 games. This form has put The Gunners back into contention for the top 4.

However Unai Emery’s team are in 5^th coming into this game but they are just 1 point behind Manchester United. The problem is that they have Chelsea breathing down their necks and The Blues will not play this weekend as they will participate in the Carabao Cup final.

Arsenal have a superb home record, winning their last 5 in a row at the Emirates, and overall they have won 32 points from a possible 39 with just one defeat, and have not been beaten at home in the league since August.

Southampton have shown improvement since December but they are currently getting relegated. The good news is that just one point is the difference for now and they have a realistic chance to make it. Their last game was a loss against Cardiff but before that they had gone their last 4 matches unbeaten. They come to The Emirates with no defeats in their last four away games.

Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey has a knee problem but will be assessed for this game. Ramsey who will join Juventus next season is the only new injury worry for the club

Southampton: Stuart Armstrong will be assessed but could play after suffering a calf injury earlier this month. Danny Ings will be assessed after his hamstring injury

It’s difficult to look past Arsenal who should ease to victory here and there can’t be any excuses not to get all three points. The way Southampton set up should play into Arsenal’s hands and at home they will be a different prospect to when they lost at St Mary’s a few months back. The Gunners record here this season is brilliant and while it is true that The Saints have a good away record coming into this game, this is a major step up for them. Arsenal are quite short odds so we will look into different markets to get more value out of the game.
