Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Match Preview:
Arsenal are well in the title hunt and this season they are showing their credentials again and perhaps more mental strength. That was in evidence as they didn’t particularly play well last weekend against Chelsea and found themselves 2-0 down but pulled themselves back in the game to finish at 2-2. The draw would have felt like a win and there are great vibes in this Gunners squad as they head home and get ready to face the club in bottom place.
Arsenal are in 3rd place and have 21 points and are two points behind Tottenham in first place. In fact there is very little between the top 5 clubs as we head into the 10th game of the season. Arsenal are unbeaten so far this season but at home they have dropped some points with draws against Fulham and Tottenham.
Sheffield United are looking like the favourites to be relegated and we are still only in October. The Blades have only managed to earn 1 point from a possible 27. They have managed just seven goals and conceded 24, which is almost averaging out at 3 goals shipped per game. Just because the Blades are bottom it doesn’t mean they are always losing heavily as seen last weekend as they lost 2-1 against Manchester United in a game that was heading for a draw, they almost drew earlier in the season against Manchester City. But the results and some good fortune are not coming their way and they will be seen as the huge under dogs to get anything in this game.
Team News:
Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus is a doubt with a hamstring injury and is only 50/50 to make this game. Thomas Partey has a muscle issue but it isn’t thought to be too serious and he will be assessed. Jurrien Timber remains sidelined with a long term knee injury.
Sheffield United: Anel Ahmedhodzic has a hamstring injury and has been ruled out for weeks. George Baldock has recovered from injury but has fitness issues and will be assessed. Adam Davies will be assessed with a knock, Tom Davies and Chris Basham remain sidelined for lengthy periods each. Daniel Jebbsion remains out with illness. Rhys Norrington-Davies has fitness issues and isn’t expected back for this game. Max Lowe remains out with an ankle injury, Joe Egan is out with a leg injury and William Osula has a knock and remains a major doubt to return for this game.
Arsenal vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:
The teams last met here three years ago and Arsenal won 2-1.
Arsenal have won the last 3 meetings.
Sheffield United have not beaten Arsenal away from home since 1971.
The last three meetings have all seen over 2.5 goals.
Arsenal vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:
Arsenal should win this game and we feel very confident that they will. To their credit Sheffield United are not consistently leaking goals but of course they did have one nightmare game as they were thrashed 8-0 against Newcastle. Arsenal are huge odds on to win and that is going to turn away customers but we do think they can score a few goals in this game.
For Sheffield United they will set up to defend and absorb but there are goals in this Arsenal side of course and even though they may be without Gabriel Jesus, even when he has been out injured they have hardly missed him, that shows the current strength in this side. Arsenal have scored 10 goals at home and that’s 2 goals per game here, we think that average will go up this weekend.
