Arsenal vs Man Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 30th January 2021
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Up until Sheffield United beat Manchester United earlier this week the game against Arsenal at Old Trafford back in November was Manchester United’s last defeat in the league. It was at a time when Arsenal were struggling and United could not buy a win at home.

Presently United have improved ten fold and come into this game in 2nd place and will be trying to avoid back to back defeats. A loss here would have eyebrows raised and possibly some thoughts confirmed that Manchester United simply aren’t good enough to win the league title this season.

Arsenal have improved since the end of last year there can be no doubts about that and their recent 3-1 win over Southampton was another huge boost to the club. Although last weekend they were knocked out of the FA Cup by the Saints. This is a good period for the Gunners however, who have no losses in their last 5 games and have climbed up to 9th place. From the doldrums of the lower half of the table Arsenal could expect to qualify for the Europa League at least if they keep this consistency up and in fact are only seven points shy of a top 4 place.

Manchester United’s overall form is good and they have picked up 10 points from their last 15. United are still unbeaten away from home this season and have won 80% of their games on the road. Their last victory away from home was in London as they beat Fulham 2-1.

Team News:

Arsenal: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been unavailable because of personal reasons. He is hopeful to return for this game but this has not been confirmed. Dani Ceballos has a lack of match fitness and will be assessed for this game. Pablo Mari looks like he will miss out again due to some fitness issues after his calf injury. Thomas Partey faces a late test with a knock and Emile Smith-Rowe has a slight muscle concern.

Manchester United: Eric Bailly is being tipped to be fine for this game after he suffered a knock in training. Marcos Rojo has an ongoing calf injury.

Arsenal vs Man Utd Head to Head:

Last season Arsenal won this fixture 2-0.

Manchester United have not beaten in Arsenal in five league games.

The last 4 league games have all ended in under 2.5 goals.

Earlier this season in the reverse fixture Arsenal beat Manchester United 1-0.

Arsenal vs Man Utd Prediction:

Arsenal will be ready for this game and will want to continue their good form, Manchester United are known as an old rival and the Gunners would love nothing more than to dent their plans.

Had this game been played a month ago you could certainly have sided with a United victory but Arsenal look good now and being at home in familiar surroundings the club will be focused on getting the three points.

Of course United have not lost away from home and that should be respected but this is a tough game and they would have taken a body blow losing in midweek to Sheffield United. We should expect to see an exciting game, which could go either way but our choice is for both teams to score and to back the home to get something from this encounter.
