Arsenal vs Liverpool: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 15th July 2020
Kick off at 8:15pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Even though a huge gap has appeared between the clubs in recent years Arsenal and Liverpool is always a mouthwatering prospect and this should be a good game. Arsenal will be hoping to increase their chances of a European finish with a win here and be one of the few teams to beat Liverpool this season.

The Gunners restarted the campaign in poor fashion but they have picked up since then and it will be encouraging for them that striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has got back his touch in front of goal.

Whilst Arsenal have been criticised this season they have only lost 3 games at home and remain tough to beat at the Emirates. They are also adept to score goals here and have 31 so far which is an impressive return for a club who have switched managers half way through the season and that some would say have had a few mini crisis this season.

Liverpool had a blip at home to Burnley, dropping points at Anfield for the first time this season, but the aim is to get to 100 points, they really have nothing else left to prove this season. They will still see Arsenal as an old rival and would like to get 3 points here but you wonder if the time will come when manager Jurgen Klopp gives some of the youngsters a chance, he is mainly sticking to his regular players and one of those reasons may be to get them fitter and fitter with such a lopsided season.

Whilst Liverpool have a near perfect record at home that is not the case away and they have lost 2 and drawn two- they still have the best away record though winning 41 points from 51. Recently on the road the club have dropped points though with just 1 win in their last four.

Team News:

Arsenal: Arsenal have some long term injuries to Calum Chambers, Bernd Leno, Eddie Nketiah, and Gabriel Martinelli. Mesut Ozil and Matteo Guendouzi are unlikely to play with their futures at the club in question.

Liverpool: Jordan Henderson and Joel Matip have been ruled out for the rest of the season. James Milner is doubtful to play.

Arsenal vs Liverpool Prediction:

If Liverpool were going for something, this match would look like a straightforward win for them, and whilst they have recorded good wins since they won the league, Arsenal are quality opposition. If a good version of the Gunners turn up they can squeeze out a win here but they will have to remain disciplined and will have many attacks to defend. You just wonder if Liverpool will be playing at 100% in this game, and it is Arsenal that need the win. Mikel Arteta has really dug in when it counts lately and has helped his set of players, Liverpool could well be just waiting for this season to end.
