England Premier League
Sunday 13th March 2022
Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Match Preview:
Arsenal come into this weekend in 4th place and because they have only played 25 games are the favourites now to take that last position and qualify for the Champions League. But this is the Premier League and there are sure to be many stories told from now until May.
Arsenal are in great form and have won their last four games with their latest one finishing in a 3-2 victory away to Watford. At home the Gunners have the third best record in the league with just two defeats and 9 wins from 13 games. Wolves and Brentford have been beaten here in the clubs last two matches. While Mikel Arteta’s side are not scoring many goals for a classic Arsenal outfit they are defending well and have only shipped 10 goals at home, only Manchester City with seven has conceded less. Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and even Wolves are chasing down Arsenal so there will be pressure on the club to keep on winning but their home form overall has been fantastic and they will be the favourites to win here.
Leicester got a terrific 2-0 win over Rennes in the Europa League 1st leg in midweek and they should advance to the next round, the first goal in the 2nd leg will be all important. The Foxes have struggled this season in the league but are doing well in Europe and it will be interesting to see how far the Foxes can go.
Back to domestic and Leicester come into this game in 12th place and 15 points behind their hosts. Form has been erratic this season but the club will come here in good spirits as they have won their last two league games and three in all competitions. Recent victories in the league have come against Burnley and Leeds.
What has really let down Brendan Rodgers side this season has been their away form and they have lost 50% of their games on the road with just three wins. However their 2-0 victory over Burnley did end a 4 game losing streak.
Team News:
Arsenal: Emile Smith-Rowe will return after illness, Takehiro Tomiyasu has a calf injury and is only 50/50 to make this game and looks a doubt to do so.
Leicester: Jamie Vardy is out with a knee injury and could miss the next 3 weeks at least. Ricardo Pereira has a slight hamstring injury but could be assessed for this game. Timothy Castagne is out for another three weeks at least with a thigh injury. Wesley Fofana could be back next week because of a lack of match fitness after his long term injury. Jonny Evans is missing until early next month with his hamstring and Ryan Bertrand is out long term with a knee injury.
Arsenal vs Leicester Head to Head:
Leicester won this fixture last season 1-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Arsenal won 2-0.
5 from the last six meetings has seen under 2.5 goals.
Arsenal have not beaten Leicester when at home since 2018.
Arsenal vs Leicester Prediction:
Both clubs will have confidence coming into this game but with Leicester’s season more or less over in the Premier League the pressure is going to be on Arsenal to come forward and get the result. The fact that Jamie Vardy is out once again for the visitors is such a cruel blow to them he has been quite a menace to Arsenal over the years and we can see the Gunners having to work hard but they can come away here with a very good victory.
Arsenal are 1.50 to win this game which seems a little short but at the same time they have been very impressive at home and are due a win over the Foxes at the Emirates. The better value is them on the -1 asian handicap and we will take that. This is a game which traditionally has seen goals but in recent seasons that has dried up. But if the game is free flowing there will be spaces and we think a few goals could come Arsenal’s way here and they haven’t been short of some in recent games.
Arsenal vs Leicester Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Arsenal) at 1.725
Over 2.5 goals at 1.57
