England Premier League
Saturday 27th August 2022
Kick off at 5:30pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Match Preview:
Saturday’s game will be wrapped up by the early evening clash, a London derby, which will see Arsenal take on Fulham. The Gunners have been magnificent so far and are playing their best football in a few seasons. Confidence wise it is night and day comparing recent years and Mikel Arteta has got his team playing good attacking and slick football, all seems well at the club for now.
Arsenal are the only team in the Premier League so far to have a 100% record and have pulled two points clear at the top of the league after victories over Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth and they are the joint top scorers with 9 so far. It is true that the club haven’t played the better quality sides yet but at the end of the day you can only play who you are scheduled too and for now Arteta’s side are passing the tests.
Fulham are unbeaten so far and that in itself is a success story for the club and a surprise. They managed to draw 2-2 with Liverpool and kept a clean sheet away to Wolves. Last weekend the Cottagers recorded their first victory of the season as they battled hard at home to beat Brentford 3-2. They may be the newly promoted side but Fulham are playing well, not afraid to come forward and are scoring goals. Their dangerous forward Aleksandar Mitrovic already has 3 goals and could be a handful for this Arsenal defence.
Team News:
Arsenal: Reiss Nelson is out with a muscle injury with no fixed return date but he is the only player missing for the club.
Fulham: Neeskens Kebano has a groin injury and is a doubt to be ready for this game. Manor Soloman has a knee injury and is expected to be out long term.
Arsenal vs Fulham Head to Head:
The last time the clubs played here was in 2021 and the game finished in a 1-1 draw. Prior to that Arsenal had won 6 meetings in a row.
Fulham have won just one game against Arsenal in the last 15 which happened 10 years ago.
Fulham have never beaten Arsenal away from home.
Arsenal have scored 13 goals in their last four meetings with Fulham.
Arsenal vs Fulham Prediction:
Arsenal should win this game without too many problems, they are firing on all cylinders and their confidence is very high. We don’t expect the Gunners to be dropping too many points at home and even though Fulham have started the season reasonably well they are up against a strong opponent away from home. Fulham’s record over the Gunners is very poor, and at the end of the day Arsenal do get the desired results against them. You look at Gabriel Jesus for example and you can almost visualise the forward scoring in this game. The Gunners are odds on as expected and around 1.25 to win this game which will be off putting for quite a few backers, so it is best to look into different markets to find the value.
One market is backing goals, there are many goals in this Arsenal side and let’s not forget that in Fulham’s first game Liverpool were not at the races and still managed to score twice, we can see Arsenal getting four or more here and they have just stuck 3 past another newly promoted side in Bournemouth. Fulham should be respected they have done well but this could be a long 90 minutes for the club where their season could come crashing back down to reality.
