Arsenal vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 23rd September 2018
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Arsenal are in a good period at the moment after racking up 3 wins in a row in the Premier League. In midweek they opened up their Europa League campaign by beating Vorskla 4-2 in a fairly routine win although yet again their high line and defence were exposed. But a win is a win.

The Gunners will start at home as the odds on favourites to beat Everton and win could take Unai Emery’s side into the top 5 depending on results.

Everton just haven’t got off to the start that they would have hoped for and have won just 1 game so far this season. However they will go above Arsenal if they win this game. Last weekend they lost to West Ham who had not won a game all season. The excuse for Everton was that they had a whole load of injuries and Richarlison was suspended. The Brazilian forward has started with 3 goals already this season and he will be welcomed back with open arms.

Everton have not lost away this season with two draws in a row that both ended 2-2. They would, on the face of it, take another draw on Sunday.

Team News:

Arsenal: Lucas Torreira has a knock and will be assessed for this game and the same applies for Henrikh Mkhitaryan who is recovering from an ankle injury

Everton: The big news for Everton is the return of Richarlison after his 3 game suspension. Yerry Mina could start the game but will be assessed ahead of it. Seamus Coleman has a foot injury. Michael Keane and Phil Jagielka should be back at the end of the month

Arsenal vs Everton Head to Head:

In the league Everton have no wins in London v Arsenal in the last 15 games.

Last season Arsenal won this match 5-1.

Arsenal have scored 13 goals in their last 3 meetings with Everton.

Home or away the last 4 meetings has seen both teams to score.

Arsenal vs Everton Prediction:

Arsenal are on a real high and even though some players are starting to come back for Everton this is a big game and away and won’t be easy for them especially if Yerry Mina is drafted into the team. Having said that Richarlison will be chomping at the bit to start and he will be able to link up the pace of the returning Theo Walcott, it would be no surprise if Everton scored. But Arsenal are looking a real threat now as they start to understand what Emery is asking of them.
