Arsenal vs Crystal Palace: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 21st April 2019
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

Arsenal are having a solid end to the season, which was underlined this week when the club reached the semi-finals of the Europa League after a 3-0 aggregate win over Napoli. They will now play Valencia and a possible all English final against Chelsea is still on the cards.

In the league Arsenal played professionally in their last match, one they lost last season, by keeping their heads, defending deep and counterattacking in their 1-0 away win against Watford. The Gunners are now in 4th place with 66 points and as long as they keep winning they will finish in the top 4. The distinct advantage they have over Chelsea who have the same points as them is that they have a game in hand.

At home Arsenal have the 3rd best record in the league with just 1 defeat all season, which happened on the opening day of the season. They have won 14 of their 17 games and will be the odds on favourites to beat Crystal Palace.

Palace are 8 points clear of danger, and their recent form means they are safe going into this match. They do remain inconsistant but at the same time Roy Hodgson’s team have done just enough and have climbed up to 13th place in the process.

Away from home The Eagles have actually collected more points as they have gained 23 from their 39 on the road. They have won 3 of their last 4 and have lost just once in their last five games.

Team News:

Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey is out with a hamstring injury. Sokartis is suspended and serving a 2 game ban for 10 yellow cards, he is back next week. Denis Suarez has a groin injury but could return and will be assessed. Granit Xhaka will also be assessed after his hip injury

Crystal Palace: Jeffrey Schlupp has been ruled out for the rest of the season after his ankle injury, the news was announced yesterday. The same applies to James Tomkins with a groin injury

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Head to Head:

Earlier this season the teams drew 2-2.

Last season in this fixture Arsenal won 4-1.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Prediction:

These are the type of games that Arsenal win, and The Gunners should have few problems against Palace who they love scoring against. Palace have vastly improved over the season but at the same time the gulf in quality is there for anyone to see. Arsenal are at home and need this win, Palace do not. Arsenal have scored 9 goals against Palace in their last 3 meetings. Alexandre Lacazette scored in midweek and if he gets the chance to start we should back him to score again. We expect Arsenal to get a few goals on Sunday. The main concern for Arsenal will be possible fatigue from their midweek game in Napoli.

Arsenal vs Crystal Palace Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Arsenal) at 1.84

Anytime goalscorer: Alexandre Lacazette at 2.00
