This match should be a cracker when these two London rivals meet on Sunday.
Both sides have young and hungry managers and both desperately need the win. For Arsenal Mikel Arteta will be managing his first game in charge at the Emirates and is sure to get a positive reaction or at least one would hope encouragement from the fans. Arteta has an almighty job on his hands as Arsenal are experiencing one of their worst starts to a Premier League campaign in a generation and come into this match in 11th place.
The Gunners have just 1 win in their past 14 matches and Arteta’s debut finished in a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. Depending on results the club could climb back into the top 10 with a win at the weekend. At Emirates Stadium the club have no wins in their last five earning just 3 points from their last 15 and they would be 14th based on home results alone.
Chelsea are in poor form losing 3 games from their last 4 but as Tottenham will tell you here we have a side who will raise their game in London derbies. Chelsea went to Tottenham and played great football as they inflicted Jose Mourinho’s first home loss with a 2-0 win. Then Chelsea went back to their poor form and lost 2-0 at home to Southampton on Boxing Day. Indeed Chelsea has a better away record than they do at home and have won almost 70% of their games on the road.
Tottenham, Sheffield United and Manchester United are all within striking distance of Chelsea and they need a win to break free. They are 20 points behind league leaders Liverpool but just 3 points clear of Tottenham.

Arsenal: Hector Bellerin is being tipped to be ready to join the squad up again for this game. Dani Ceballos will be assessed before the game. Sokratis has a minor knock and should be fine for this game. Gabriel Martinelli is being pencilled in for this game following his hamstring injury

Chelsea will be 100x better than we have seen them recently and this match could turn into a physical clash. Chelsea have the better players and they should be up for this game, but with this being Arteta’s first game at home we are going to give an average Arsenal side the benefit of the doubt here and back then to take something from this encounter. If Arsenal do so then they will need a goal from Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang, he is the only real star of the club now and a player that can get them out of trouble.
