Arsenal vs Brighton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 14th May 2023
Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: Emirates Stadium

Match Preview:

By the time this game kicks off Arsenal will know a little bit more of this incredible Premier League story. Manchester City could have gone 4 points clear of the Gunners or the best case scenario for Mikel Arteta’s side will be a City loss and Arsenal could go two points clear albeit City would still have a game in hand. However if City have won and Arsenal lose or even draw this game the league title for this season would look over, in short all of the pressure is on the Gunners at home to win.

The Gunners really wobbled in April and it looks to have cost them the league title still they have a chance and they have bounced back well to win their last two games beating Chelsea and Newcastle. The win over Newcastle which finished 2-0 was highly impressive given that Eddie Howe’s side had lost just once at home before that game. At home Arsenal have won 13 games from 17 and lost just once and that was to Manchester City. Recent home form has been very good with four wins from five and one draw which came against of all teams bottom side Southampton.

Brighton had their European hopes dented last weekend as they were slaughtered 5-1 by Everton in what was seen as a shock result. The Seagulls will be looking to bounce back but that won’t be easy away to such a brilliant side as this Arsenal team. Brighton need to keep the faith as in some cases they have played 3 games less than teams above them and they could still challenge for a Champions League place at worst a Europa League one but one feels they would need to get something here. Perhaps the good news is that Roberto De Zerbi’s side has the 4th best away record in the league having won 25 points from a possible 48 although they have lost two of their last three games on the road.

Team News:

Arsenal: Oleksandr Zinchenko could miss the rest of the season with a calf injury. William Saliba remains out with his back Takehiro Tomiyasu is out for the season with his knee.

Brighton: Soloman March is ruled out for at least another week with his hamstring, Joel Veltman is just 50/50 because of his hamstring. Adam Webster remains a major doubt because of a knock.

Arsenal vs Brighton Head to Head:

Brighton have won the last two games at the Emirates.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Arsenal won 4-2.

The last three meetings has seen over 2.5 goals.

Arsenal vs Brighton Prediction:

Brighton are fighting for a European place and it will be interesting to see how they fare here after being humbled 5-1 by Everton. The team have enjoyed some positive results away to Arsenal and the teams are much closer than their league standings suggest, for sure Arsenal are in for a tough game. But we expect the Gunners to continue their title chasing run. Arsenal continue to pull off good results and are scoring goals and what has helped so much for Arteta’s side is that they have goals all over the pitch.

Watch out for Leandro Trossard as we have seen countless times in the past how former players can score against their former teams. Last time they played each other we witnessed six goals and we expect to see goals in this one too, so look for the value and back over 3 goals, the Gunners need to be rampant but this Brighton side can get on the score sheet also.
