Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Emirates Stadium
Match Preview:
Arsenal were left shell shocked last weekend and yet by the end of it, it didn’t matter. The Gunners lost only their 2nd game of the season as they fell 1-0 away to Everton in what was seen as a surprising result. However given that 2nd placed Manchester City lost also it means that Arsenal keep their 5 point advantage at the top and have a game in hand.
Mikel Arteta will be determined that his side get back to winning ways and returning to the Emirates to play against Brentford everyone will be expecting them to get 3 points. Arsenal have won 8 of their 9 home games and remain unbeaten here and with 25 goals scored they are almost averaging 3 a game. The clubs last home game was a 3-2 win over Manchester United and they have picked up 13 points from their last 15 on offer here.
Brentford have been superb this season and they come into this weekend in 7th place with 33 points. They could jump one place to sixth and overhaul Brighton with victory and they are on a fine run which has seen them win 4 of their last five games. The Bees last game was an easy 3-0 win over Southampton. But their consistency has been key here and they haven’t lost a game since going down against Aston Villa back in October. Away from home has only seen two wins for the Bees but the good news is that they have managed to go their last 4 games without a loss, that includes stunning Manchester City away from home when they beat the champions 2-1 so they cannot be underestimated.
Team News:
Arsenal: Gabriel Jesus is still out and won’t return for at least another two weeks. Emile Smith-Rowe has a thigh injury and looks set to miss out. Reiss Nelson has recovered from injury but has fitness problems and is only 50/50 to make the squad.
Brentford: Shandon Baptiste will be assessed due to a lack of match fitness, Frank Onyeka is out for a month at least with an on going hamstring injury.
Arsenal vs Brentford Head to Head:
Last season Arsenal won this fixture 2-1.
The teams have played just four recent matches and Arsenal have won 3 of them.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Arsenal beat Brentford 3-0.
Arsenal vs Brentford Prediction:
As you would expect Arsenal are odds on favourites to win this game but the 1.40 may put a few punters off. In truth Brentford won’t lie down here and Arsenal will be made to really work for this win and it could be a tight and physical game. Arsenal haven’t lost a match before last weekend for a long time, so it will be interesting to see how they bounce back. Had Manchester City closed the gap last weekend then perhaps mind games and some doubts would creep in to the Arsenal set up, alas they got away with it and we expect to see a determined and professional display from the home side.
We will look into the -1 asian handicap market for better value at no extra risk and will back Eddie Nketiah to get on the score sheet once again. He is a player really finding his feet this season and is on form and is very good value to score here.
Arsenal vs Brentford Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Arsenal) at 1.65
Anytime goalscorer: Eddie Nketiah at 2.75
Correct Score: Arsenal to win 3-0 or 3-1 at 9.00 and 11.00
