Match Preview:

Arsenal beat Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League 3-0 away from home in midweek which was an impressive result against a team who had made last seasons semi final. The Gunners have certainly been hit and miss so far in the Premier League but they can get their campaign back on track when they return home to play newly promoted Aston Villa on Sunday.

Unai Emery’s team have not won in their last 3 games after losing to Liverpool and drawing against Tottenham and Watford but their home record last season was excellent, and they are unbeaten at home this season and will start as the odds on favourites to win here.

Aston Villa are claiming points when they can and that has to be the clubs objective not to get drawn into a relegation dog fight as the season goes on. However they are in 17^th place with their only win coming against Everton, and they have lost 3 matches already. Their last game at home, ended in a 0-0 draw against West Ham. The last time they came to London was at the beginning of the season when they lost 3-1 against Tottenham.

Team News:

Arsenal: Alexandre Lacazette is ruled out with an ankle injury, and in fact won’t return for at least another 3 weeks. Kieran Tierney is close to making his debut for the club and has recovered from injury, and now just has fitness issues, but he is set to miss this game and come back at the end of the month

Arsenal are a much better side than Aston Villa and we don’t see any problems in the Gunners getting the win here. If not there is more work than anyone could imagine for Emery to sort his side out. They have gone three games without a win and this is the perfect opportunity for them to start on the winning trail again. They are already starting to lose touch with Liverpool so need this win. They have the players to do this although one would have expected more of Nicolas Pepe by now, who has come in from Lille for over £70m and only shown glimpses of what he can do. This would have to be seen as a major shock for Villa to get anything here.
