Wolves vs Southampton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Monday 23rd November 2020
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

Monday night presents to us an exciting pair up where Wolves who have impressed for the past two seasons will take on Southampton who have emerged as a surprise package this season.

Wolves come into this game in 9th place and have impressed this season even though there have clearly been some, let’s say, speed bumps in the road. This was highlighted just before the international break where in a crunch game they lost 1-0 to Leicester. But defeats against West Ham and Manchester City haven’t helped either, even if they were expected to come up short against Pep Guardiola’s team.

For now life isn’t too bad for Wolves who with a win should be able to settle into the top seven. After losing their first home game against City, Wolves have bounced back and come into this one unbeaten in their last three at home.

Southampton have simply looked exciting and have won their last 3 games to rise into the top five in the league. The Saints are amongst the most in form sides and have won 13 of their last 15 points.

They are scoring goals too and have 8 in their last three games and their last victory came against Newcastle in a 2-0 win. Away from home the Saints have lost just once and are unbeaten in their last 3 meetings.

Team News:

Wolves: Rayan Ait-Nouri has a slight muscle problem but could feature after a late test. Conor Coady is touch and go after having to self isolate.

Southampton: Ryan Bertrand will face a test after recovering from his hamstring injury. Danny Ings isn’t expected back until just before Christmas after having surgery on his knee. James Ward-Prowse has a slight hamstring but is being tipped to be fine for this match.

Wolves vs Southampton Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 1-1.

In recent times the clubs have only played each other on 4 occasions in the Premier League and 75% of those matches have seen both teams to score.

Southampton have not beaten Wolves away from home since 2007.

Wolves vs Southampton Prediction:

Southampton have been very pleasing on the eye and it is good for the league to see different teams in the top positions but this is a very tricky fixture for the club. Take James Ward-Prowse who has been in superb form for the club, but could be carrying a slight injury. Will he, if he plays, be at 100%?

Wolves remain a dangerous side especially at home and the Saints have not traditionally travelled well here in 13 years. What we have is a potentially very exciting match but with two equal teams, and we feel it could go either way, therefore better to focus on the goals markets.

It’s very interesting to see the price on both teams to score, where we sometimes can expect a price of 1.57 if there is a 75% chance of it historically happening. So to see the price as high as 1.91 that is worth getting on. What adds to this is that both sides have goals in them.

Wolves vs Southampton Betting Tips:

Both teams to score at 1.91

Goal line (Over 2) at 1.65
