Wolves vs Arsenal: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Wednesday 24th April 2019
Kick off at 7.45pm BST
Venue: Molineux Stadium

Match Preview:

In many ways this game for Arsenal can remind us of their battle against Watford a week ago. Both Wolves and Watford have had similar seasons, punching above their weight, both are going for 7th place and both remain difficult teams to beat at home.

Indeed Arsenal only scraped past Watford 1-0 despite The Hornets being reduced to 10 men for the majority of the game after Troy Deeney’s dismissal.

Wolves have been quite poor away from home and overall they have won just 1 game in their past five matches. Their last duel ended in a disappointing 0-0 draw at home to relegation threatened Brighton this past weekend. However Wolves still remain solid at home and are unbeaten in 2019 in front of their home fans.

Arsenal suffered a shock defeat at home to Crystal Palace in a game that ended 3-2. It was The Gunners first loss at The Emirates since the opening day of the season back in August when they lost to the champions Manchester City 2-0.

Unai Emery’s team have lost 2 of their last 3 league games and yet if they win this match they will give themselves a huge chance to finish in the top 4. Last week The Gunners beat Napoli 3-0 on aggregate to make it to the semi-finals of the Europa League where they will face Valencia.

This has been a good season for Arsenal but this week is a massive one for the club and they cannot afford to drop points in this game.

Team News:

Wolves: The club come into this game with no new injury worries.

Arsenal: Aaron Ramsey is out with a hamstring injury and he is fighting to be able to represent Arsenal before the end of the season where after he will join Juventus. Granit Xhaka will miss this game through his hip injury but should be back at the end of the month

Wolves vs Arsenal Head to Head:

Earlier this season the reverse fixture ended 1-1.

The teams have not met at Wolves since 2012 when Arsenal romped home 3-0 winners.

Wolves have no wins over Arsenal since 2005.

Wolves vs Arsenal Prediction:

Wolves have a chance to beat Arsenal, and this should be a close game. Wolves will need to stay calm, but start positively and control the pace of the game. Arsenal at times this season have looked like a well-oiled machine but this has still been a learning curve for them. They have been passing small tests but this game is one of mental strength and The Gunners need to be at their best here.

Our tip though is to back the home side, the run in for 3rd and 4th simply has not been straight forward and Wolves possess a lot of quality for Arsenal who have not always been on their game away from home. They looked tired at the weekend and needed a rest for this week too. Watch out for Mesut Ozil though - once he scores a goal he usually follows up with another.

Wolves vs Arsenal Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (0.0 Wolves) at 2.090

Both teams to score at 1.62

Anytime goalscorer: Mesut Ozil at 5.00
