England Premier League
Sunday 22nd September 2019
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Olympic Stadium
Match Preview:
This game between West Ham and Manchester United is set to be an electric one and should be a very fast paced match with lots of incident. On the face of it West Ham can pose United many problems, but the team playing the better football is United, this should be a very close game.
West Ham are on a 4 game unbeaten run which is superb for the club, but if we want to be harsh we could point out that they have had a fortunate run of games against teams who could well finish in the bottom half of the table. The one dangerous team they did face was Manchester City at home and that ended in a 5-0 defeat. Still the games that the club have won and drawn in since should give them some understanding of their level and bring confidence in the team. Last Monday the Hammers drew 0-0 away to Aston Villa.
Much has been said of Manchester United who have lost and drawn games they would have been expected to win. However they are playing some fluid attacking football and the thinking is if they can keep this level up everything will click together and they will be able to go on a good run.
United did beat Leicester last week, that inflicted the first defeat for Brendan Rodgers team and United come into this game in 5th place with 8 points, just two points behind Manchester City but 7 behind league leaders Liverpool. United have yet to win away from home this season, but they haven’t lost either, drawing both games.
Team News:
West Ham: Manuel Lanzini has a slight knock and will be assessed before the game, but could be a doubt. Arthur Masuaku is suspended after being sent off v Aston Villa
Manchester United: Daniel James has a knock and missed the Europa League match in midweek. He is rated as 50/50 for this game. Anthony Martial is pencilled to come back at the end of the month, but there are rumours circulating that he could make this squad. Paul Pogba has an ankle injury and looks certain to miss this game. Luke Shaw won’t return until the end of the month at the earliest
