West Ham vs Huddersfield: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 16th March 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Olympic Stadium

Match Preview:

What we have learned about Manuel Pellegrini’s West Ham is that they are totally a home team. The club looked toothless last weekend in their 2-0 defeat at Cardiff and away from home The Hammers have picked up just 15 points from a possible 45.

They return back home where they will be the favourites to get all three points against the bottom team Huddersfield. The Hammers are on a good run at their stadium and have no losses in 2019, winning their last two home games with victories over Fulham and Newcastle, scoring 5 in the process.

Huddersfield are 16 points from safety and down, even though there is still 24 points left on the board it is obvious that the club will be playing Championship football next season. There is no real motivation for this game and it will be a tough one for the club too. They come here after losing their last two matches.

The club have won just 1 game away from home all season and have scored just 8 times, conceding 29. They have won 4 points from their last 30 on the road.

Team News:

West Ham: Andy Carroll has an ankle injury but the club are confident that he will be back for this game, he is the only doubt for the club ahead of this game other than a few long term injuries.

Huddersfield: Terence Kongolo has a hip injury but could be assessed ahead of the game

West Ham vs Huddersfield Head to Head:

Earlier this season the teams drew 1-1.

Last season West Ham won this fixture 2-0.

There is a 66% chance to see both teams to score.

West Ham vs Huddersfield Prediction:

West Ham are being quoted at 1.57 to win the game but this being West Ham who can be partial to a slip up ends up offering no value at all. We do believe that The Hammers will win but it’s better to look for value and so we will take them on with the -1 asian handicap, which actually offer no increase in risk but far better odds. There is goals in this side and manager Pellegrini was livid after their Cardiff performance so he will want one here. Huddersfield may offer something on the counter but we are expecting West Ham to be the guardian of the ball on Saturday and they should be able to have a comfortable victory.

Felipe Anderson has shone for West Ham this season and we will be backing him to score at the weekend. He did so against Huddersfield earlier in the season and is worth picking out.

West Ham vs Huddersfield Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 West Ham) at 2.030

Anytime goalscorer: Felipe Anderson at 2.75
