West Ham vs Cardiff: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Tuesday 4th December 2018
Kick off at 7.45pm GMT
Venue: Olympic Stadium

Match Preview:

Just when West Ham seemed to be so easy to predict they go and win at Newcastle- a usual graveyard for them and not only do they record a win, they do it impressively against a side who were on form.

In truth it was a massive win for the Hammers as all confidence seemed to have abandoned the club after one win in five games. Keeping a clean sheet is rare for the club and the victory over The Magpies was only their 2nd clean sheet of the season.

Chicarito was the hero of the day, netting two goals and the question now for the Mexican is has he found some form ahead of Cardiff’s visit? At home Manuel Pellegrini’s team have lost two from their last 3 games and you never quite know what team will turn up at London Stadium.

Cardiff beat Wolves 2-1 last weekend and Neil Warnock’s side have found a little bit of form latley as that was their 2nd victory in 3 games. Although we must remind ourselves that they have still lost 3 of their last five games. But the win has moved them to 16th and a win here would mean they are just a single point behind their hosts.

Away from home Cardiff have the 2nd to worst record in the league where they are yet to win a game from 6 matches and five of those have ended in defeats. They have scored just 2 goals on the road and on average they are shipping 2 goals per game. They have lost their last 4 games in a row away from home.

Team News:

West Ham: Fabian Balbuena has a knock and will be assessed ahead of this game. Aaron Cresswell has a slight hamstring but is in contention to make the squad.

Cardiff: Greg Cunningham could make his comeback after a knock. Ashley Richards will miss this game with a hamstring injury. Kenneth Zohore will miss this but is back in training for the weekend match

West Ham vs Cardiff Prediction:

West Ham were really impressive against Newcastle last weekend. Surely they can follow that form up against a side who are down there with them and have one of the poorest away records in the league. This is a game that West Ham should be able to play in cruise control. And we fancy Chicarito to continue his little patch of form. The Hammers usually score goals against Cardiff and we will also back them in this market. A home win.
