Watford vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 1st February 2020
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Vicarage Road

Match Preview:

Watford look determined to stay up and have been one of the most in form teams in the league over the past few weeks. However they were brought down to earth by Aston Villa last time out losing 2-1 and one wonders if that has put a sting in the Hornets tail?

The club are in 19th place despite their good form but one win and they should be able to come out of the bottom three, only goal difference for now is keeping them there. At home they have only won 3 games from 12, that looks poor but recent form has been very solid and they haven’t lost at home this year and in the last five games.

Everton have risen up the table well since Carlo Ancelotti was appointed as manager. They are in 12th place. Form has been good if not spectacular and they come into this game having drawn their last two. Their last match at home to Newcastle ended 2-2 and it was a sickening result for the club given that they were leading 2-0 going into injury time. It was simply an incredible come back for Newcastle, but the result felt like a loss for Everton and Ancelotti has to be careful that doubts do not set in for some of the players.

On the road Everton have not been convincing, winning just 1 game under Ancelotti. The club have lost 7 of their 12 away matches so far and their last away game ended in a 1-1 draw at West Ham.

Team News:

Watford: Ismaila Sarr is still out and will miss this game. Femenia was hopeful to be ready for this game but looks like a major doubt. Joao Pedro has a knock it is thought to be minor though and could be assessed.

Everton: The club have no new injuries coming into this game.

Watford vs Everton Head to Head:

Last season Watford won this game 1-0.

4 games from the last 5 has ended in under 2.5 goals.

In the reverse fixture earlier in the season Everton won 2-0.

Watford vs Everton Prediction:

Everton will be looking to win and could start as favourites but this will be a tough game for them. Richarlison will hopefully have his head clear after reportedly being targeted by Barcelona this week. He could well be very up for this game against his former club. Watford need to bounce back and the one worry you would have with Everton if backing them is that their away form has been very poor even under Ancelotti, he clearly needs more time to project his vision on the club. This match we expect could get bogged down in midfield and we don’t believe we will see a very good game but we're going to give Watford the edge purely because Everton's form away from home just can't be trusted, and Watford haven't lost at home since November.
