Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 9th November 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham remain out of form and cagey in this most desperate of seasons for the club but they have the quality to bounce back and will try to do just that when they take on newly promoted Sheffield United at home this weekend.

The club are in 11th place and have not won a game in the league since the end of September that was 5 games back and last weekend they drew 1-1 with Everton. At home they have lost once and picked up 10 from a possible 18 points and are at least on a 3 game unbeaten streak in London. However, although their last home game ended in a 1-1 draw with Watford, they were lucky not to have had their equaliser ruled out.

The good news for under fire Spurs is that they are winning in Europe and won their latest Champions League game 4-0 over Red Star and that was away from home, can they take some of that positive play and form into the domestic league?

Sheffield United are in very good form and have had a great start to their campaign. They are in 6th place and three points in front of their hosts coming into this match. They are on a 4 game unbeaten run easily despatching Burnley in their last game by 3-0. What is interesting is that the Blades are still unbeaten away from home having won just once but drawing 4 games. If Arsenal lose, Sheffield United would go 5th with a win.

Team News:

Tottenham: Erik Lamela will be out for an extended time with his hamstring. There are no new injury concerns for the club

Sheffield United: John Egan should be fine to play after picking up a minor knock. Other than that United have a full side

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Head to Head:

Tottenham were still playing at White Hart Lane the last time the teams met in London which was in 2015. In that game Tottenham won 1-0.

In the four recent games the clubs have played Sheffield United have just 1 win and haven’t beaten Spurs in a competitive fixture for 12 years.

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Prediction:

Tottenham have the better team and have home advantage, but they honestly need our trust. At this time, with the way things are going Mauricio Pochettino could be gone by Christmas, and it has been incredible how certain fans have turned against him when last May he was known as a genius for getting the club to the Champions League final. Sheffield United have been strong and difficult to beat and whilst they will eventually struggle on the road, we don’t think this is the time for Chris Wilder’s team to collapse. It may feel risky but we will back the Blades on the handicap and also we will pick out for smaller stakes the correct score.

Tottenham vs Sheffield Utd Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (+1.0 Sheffield United) at 1.89

Correct Score: Sheffield United to win 1-0 or draw 1-1 at 15.00 and 8.00
