England Premier League
Sunday 10th February 2019
Kick off at 1.30pm GMT
Venue: Wembley Stadium
With Liverpool drawing their last two games prior to this weekend's game against Bournemouth and a wobble from Manchester City it has bunched the top 3 clubs a little bit closer and while Tottenham remain outsiders for the league title they are just 5 points adrift of both clubs coming into this game. There might just be a glimmer of hope for the North London club.
Since Tottenham lost to Manchester United they have won their last 3 games in a row and have remained a top 3 side formwise. Considering the problems that they have had with key injuries to Harry Kane and Dele Alli Spurs have coped quite well.
They have picked up 9 points from their last 15 available at home and will be favourites to win this match at Wembley. But of course there is frustration in the camp and maybe some anxiety over the teams delayed move into their new stadium which was highlighted by manager Mauricio Pochettino this week.
Leicester played well but lost last weekend at home to Manchester United by 1-0 and that latest defeat means that the club are officially going through a bad patch as they haven’t won a game for 4 matches now. However this is Leicester, a team who recently went to Liverpool and got a draw and you never quite know what version of them will turn up.
Despite their bad form they are a team who can still score goals, and in those last four games they have managed 6. Away from home they have receently beaten the likes of Everton and Chelsea and of course as mentioned drawn to Liverpool.
Tottenham: Harry Kane is still injured but the club have received a boost that he is ahead of schedule and could be back within he next 2 weeks. Eric Dier misses this game through illness. There was hope that Ben Davies could be back for this match after his groin injury but he will miss this one and be back towards the end of the month
Leicester: Marc Albrighton is ruled out and could be out for the rest of the season after suffering a serious hamstring injury
Tottenham vs Leicester Head to Head:
Last season this game ended in a 9 goal thriller with Tottenham winning 5-4.
Tottenham have scored 15 goals against Leicester in the last 4 meetings.
There is a 70% chance that both teams will score.
Tottenham vs Leicester Prediction:
Tottenham have been very solid at home and they are the only team in the league who still have no draws when playing at home. Take out the Wolves defeat here and the only teams that have claimed victory at Wembley have been Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool. Leicester do remain a threat but Spurs have grouped together well and would have been happy with the news that Kane will be back soon. Dele Alli has also started light training. Can Tottenham seize this chance, because quite clearly their league title hopes are not over, and we think they will be 100% motivated to get a win here. It might be worth selecting Erik Lamela to score in this game for Tottenham, he usually has good matches against The Foxes and scored a brace the last time the teams met here.
