England Premier League
Wednesday 13th January 2021
Kick off at 8:15pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
There is no denying how the Coronavirus has affected football and it has been to the extent that this fixture wasn’t even supposed to take place 48 hours ago. Tottenham were instead due to meet Aston Villa in midweek but with Villa’s team ravaged with the virus the fixture has been postponed and then changed.
Tottenham will now meet Fulham in a London derby that no one knew about at the beginning of the week and Tottenham will start as favourites to win this game.
At the weekend Tottenham reached the next round of the FA Cup as they beat non league side Marine 5-0 in a widely expected result. Tottenham have also reached the Carabao Cup final after knocking out Brentford in the semi-finals and they will meet Manchester City in the final to be played in April.
As far as the domestic cups go Tottenham are doing well but the same can’t be said for the league at least with recent form, and the club have won just once in their last five. Still Tottenham beat Leeds 3-0 in their last league game and are only 4 points behind Liverpool and have a game in hand, so it isn’t all bad news. The club will need to go on a good winning run to keep up with the top 2 though as they have earned just 5 points from their last 15. At home Tottenham have won 4 of their last five games and have won 50% of their matches played at home.
Fulham beat QPR in the FA Cup 2-0 and that would have given the club a confidence boost ahead of returning back to league games. But one would think the clubs priority has to be on Premier League survival and as it stands Fulham would be relegated.
The Cottagers are in 18th place and are 3 points from safety. The good news is that Fulham have stopped losing games but they are not winning them either and have drawn their last 4. Had they been wins the club would have 19 points now, still had those results been defeats they would be seven points from safety.
Fulham’s form has certainly improved but they have won just twice this season and they will be underdogs to get anything from this game. On the road Scott Parker’s side have lost 4 of their seven games so far with their last away game ended in a 1-1 draw against Newcastle.
Tottenham: Pierre-Emile Hojberg has a shin problem but it is thought to be minor and he should be fine for selection. Giovani Lo Celso looks out with an ongoing muscle injury.
Fulham: The Cottagers have no new major injury concerns coming into this game.
Tottenham vs Fulham Head to Head:
The clubs haven’t played here in the league since 2018 when Tottenham won 3-1.
Tottenham have won the last 4 league meetings in a row.
The last 4 league meetings has seen both teams to score.
Tottenham vs Fulham Prediction:
Tottenham are favourites to win but the club would be fools to think that this is a straight forward victory. On paper it is, but we have seen already this season Tottenham dropping points against opposition they were expected to beat. There hasn’t been the normal preparation for this game and we expect this could start off quite slow with the game opening up more in the second half.
Tottenham are around 1.44 and that is a short price even if they should win the game. We need to see an early season version of the club as recent form has not been good. But there have been encouraging signs and Tottenham did very well to beat an attacking Leeds side 3-0 and keep a clean sheet along the way.
However with Tottenham’s price not really having value we will concentrate on other markets. Harry Kane looks a good bet for anytime goalscorer, and we expect more goals in the 2nd half as the game opens up.
Tottenham vs Fulham Betting Tips:
Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 1.62
Highest Scoring Half: 2nd half at 2.10
